About Tinted Lip Balms

At first glance, tinted lip balm just seems like a fancy upgrade to the indispensable plain ol’ lip balm. Offering sheer color, it has fast become a favorite of those who’d like a hint of color for their barely there or dressed-down looks. Yet that’s not the only thing that you should know about tinted balms. Here are 5 more things you should know about it:

  1. Like its plain predecessors, think of tinted lip balm as lip conditioner. If your lips are thin and fragile, it’s better to use tinted lip balm instead of lipstick or lip stain to prevent them from drying out. Many lip balms have shea butter for that added kick of moisture that other lip products may not have.

  2. Added protection. Tinted lip balms are not just good for moisturizing lips. With many balms containing vitamin E and with an SPF rating, they’re a must-have when you’ll be out and about.

  3. Swipe it on top of lipstick to add extra color and shine. It’s great for those days when you only have a matte hue, yet you’d would want to wear a glossy one. Just make sure that both the balm and lipstick have similar or complementary colors.

  4. Or you can use it to intensify the color of your lip liner. Again, just ensure that the tint of the lip balm is similar to the color of the lip liner. This is to avoid creating a mess on your lip’s color.

  5. Got extra unused lip balm in a tin? Create your own lip scrub. Simply add some sugar in the pot of tinted lip balm and then mix together. You can now use that mix to exfoliate your puckers. Just don’t rub too hard or you’ll end up tearing your lips’ delicate skin.
