About Foundation

Sometimes, one shade of foundation is not enough. There are several reasons why you should get an entire palette of foundation, even if they’re slightly more expensive than just getting one shade. We’re enumerating some of reasons below:

  1. Contouring. Yes, as you may know, this makeup technique popularized by Kim Kardashian requires at least two shades of foundation to pull off: one light and one dark. By using two different kinds of foundation, you can create the illusion of depth and highlight specific areas on your face to form a chiseled, angular look.

  2. Create your preferred shade. Not everyone can find a single shade of foundation that perfectly matches their skin tone or color. Hence, having two (or more) shades to mix, match, and/or layer is necessary to make the correct hue. Since those two hues are from the same palette and the same manufacturer, you also won’t have to worry about if they will blend seamlessly, as they likely have similar formulations.

  3. Use other colors as concealer. You can save the time, money, and effort that goes into looking for a complementary concealer by already using what’s on your foundation palette.

  4. Match a tanned look. Not all of us have the same skin color the entire year. And at various times of the year, we may look tanned because of a beach vacation one month and have lighter skin the next. So to avoid the hassle of switching makeup sets every so often, just have a palette with all the colors you need for all times of the year.

  5. Experiment with other uses. Foundation can be mixed in with powder blush to create custom cream blush. You can also use it as a primer for your eyes, before putting in eye shadow. These other uses may require shades that you don’t normally use as a base, so feel free to experiment!
