ABOUT CHEEKS

One of the hardest things to do when it comes to applying make-up is to apply your blusher the right way. If you do not know what you are doing, you can either look like a clown with round red circles on your cheeks or someone who was slapped silly with red blotches on your face. To be able to get that natural looking blush that complements the rest of your makeup, here are some application tips:

  1. Always have good quality brushes for your blusher – the brush to get for your cheeks should be plump and full, not those thin and cheap ones that lack the volume needed for proper blush application.

  2. Choose the right kind of cheek product for your skin type – there are creams, powders, and gels for you to choose from. Find the one that is ideal for your skin type – gels are great for those with oily skin since these are water based; powders are also good for those with oily skin since powders can absorb oil; if you have normal to dry skin, cream based blushes should be your pick.

  3. Colors should be matched to your skin tone – fair or pale skinned individuals should choose lighter and more natural tones like pink, peach, or tan. Those with darker skin tones can go for bronze, orange-hued, and reddish colors.

  4. Apply your blush according to your face shape – another thing you need to consider when applying color to your cheeks is your face shape. Those with rather thin faces, which include oval, heart, and triangle face shapes, can go without any contouring when applying color to their cheeks. Those who have round and square faces may benefit from a little contouring near the jaw.

  5. Find your cheekbones and apply your blush there in an upward direction- one of the common mistakes women make in applying blush to their cheeks is to put this color under the cheekbone instead of on it. Aside from this error, they also make the mistake of applying blush in a circular motion. Apply your cheek color in an upward motion, with a light hand, starting on the cheekbone and ending under the outer corner of your eye.
