Having nice nails and cute cuticles takes a lot of hard work. This is even truer for those of us who are into elaborate nail art, given the precision needed to do a good job. Having the right nail accessories, however, makes the process a lot more fun and enjoyable. Here are a few tips for choosing nail accessories that are right for you.
1.) Buy quality. You don’t always need to get the most expensive nippers or files you can possibly get, but you have to at least make sure whatever you get functions well and will last a reasonable amount of time. Going with the cheapest tools and accessories in most cases means buying them more than once, which adds up over time.
2.) Not everything has to be expensive or “the best”. Quality is a funny thing. Something that costs twice as much is rarely twice as good. Past a certain point, the only thing you might be paying extra for is craftsmanship (a good thing) or the brand name (not a good thing). Be sure to assess your accessories on their individual merits before taking the plunge!
3.) Always upgrade broken accessories with something better. Let’s say you bought a decent mid-priced manicure set, and you find yourself using the trimmer more than the other parts of the set. Naturally, it will wear out or get out of shape faster than everything else. You don’t have to throw everything out, but you have to make sure you replace that trimmer with something of better quality because you clearly use it more often. For nail enthusiasts, this usually makes more sense than buying premium versions of every tool at the start.
