About Treatment

If you’re plunking down hard-earned money for a hair treatment, then you have to make sure that you’ll get the most out of it—and its effects last. Hence, here are some tricks that we’ve discovered over the years from using these treatments:

  1. Focus on the ends of your hair, not just rub them on your scalp. Unless otherwise specified by your hair treatment, put the most product on the ends of your hair, as these have suffered the most damage. This is especially important for anti-frizz treatments.

  2. Activate your treatment with a warm, damp towel. Either soak a towel in hot water and wring it out, or microwave a towel wet with cold water to make it warm. Then wrap it around your head like a turban. This will help the treatment work better on your hair.

  3. Give your hair a holiday right after your treatment, but don’t forget next week’s pamper sesh. Styling your hair right after a treatment may just get in the way of your product’s benefits, especially if you’re planning to use a hair dryer or curling iron. After all, heat can damage hair. Meanwhile, treatments are not one-shot miracle cures. Apply them at least once a week for maximum impact.

  4. Wash it out, but don’t be too harsh. Don’t try to get your hair squeaky-clean when rinsing the treatment off. A little product left behind on your hair won’t hurt.

  5. Sometimes it’s time for a trim or to accept nature’s way. If after countless treatments your hair still has lots of flyaways, then it might be time to visit your hairdresser for a trim. Or if you’ve been using a straightening treatment even if you have curly hair, then expect limited results. Treatments can only do so much, after all.
