ABOUT TEMPORARY TATTOOS

Temporary tattoos are the newest craze sweeping across town. Originally made for children, they’re now available in more adult designs, since they’re advertised as an alternative for jewelry. With designs in bright or metallic colors, they’re definitely better to put on than a bracelet or necklace that may get lost when you go out to the beach or hike outdoors.

The temporary tattoos available here on BeautyMNL, which are also called decal temporary tattoos, are also a better alternative to other forms out there. Unlike henna that takes time to dry and the services of a professional artist to apply, these are actually easy to put on. Simply put the tattoo ink-side down on your skin, apply water, and wait for three minutes. When you remove the paper backing, the image gets left behind on your skin.

So how does that temporary tattoo transfer from paper to skin? It’s all in how it’s made. First, the temporary tattoo ink is created from pigments, extenders, and agents that modify the ink’s drying behavior. Then the manufacturer uses a stencil to create a design and compress the ink onto the nonporous paper. It is then sealed with gelatin or lacquer to keep it in place.

That sealant then releases the ink pattern on the skin once the temporary tattoo is moistened. The tattoo then dries on the skin, staying intact for a few weeks before being rubbed off or washed away.

Decal temporary tattoos are also safer, since some people may get allergic reactions to henna tattoos. The ones sold here on BeautyMNL are made out of pigments and inks that are approved by the US Food and Drug Adminsitration (FDA). This is in stark contrast to black henna, which may contain p-phenylenediamine (PPD), a chemical found in hair dye. PPD can cause severe reddening, itching, and even scarring.
