Notion is a deep raspberry shade that was part of ColourPop’s Fall collection last 2016. It’s an ultra matte lip that was released as oart of the Can You Knot lip bundle, the other two shades in the set being Sookie (gloss) and Hutch (satin). Can You Knot is a shade that consisted of very dark and vampy shades, the shades if autumn. These shades also happen to be the common theme of the It’s Vintage set. All of the colors in the set (with the exception if Bianca) are all bold and dark.
So I finally got the courage to try this shade. I chose to wear it on the first day of our PPS convention. I might need to emit a bitchy vibe later on so I went for this. I was so surprised at how the lipstick looked on me. I was expecting a very deep, burgundy, wine red shade with a hint of black undertone. You know, Morticia Addams red. So I was surprised when I put it on and it registered a beautiful deep wine red on me. Outdoors, it’s a bold deep red that gives you just enough personality and to make a few heads turn. Indoors, it looks dark enough to give a subtle bitchy vibe. The color is bild, yes, but not bold enough to make me cringe and take it off at once.
The formula was amazing. I expected it to be all clumpy and drying on the lips. But it applied smoothly. Although it applied unevenly (there were patchy areas on my lips), applying a second layer evened it out. It did not settle on my lips nor did it dry out my lips. The color reminded me of the Makeup Forever lippie I own and Prim. But both lipsticks are darker and more plummy than this one.
Longevity wise, it lasts almost the entire day. It transfers a bit, and is pretty noticeable because the shade is so bold. When the lipstick started to fade during eating, it leaves a vibrant reddish pink stain on the lips. Normally, that would be nice but the stain makes the faded areas really noticeable. So either you retouch it or removed the entire thing completely. I chose the latter because I noticed the edges begnning to smudge as well. Removing it was no easy task, believe me. You need a lip makeup remover for this. ColourPop’s matte liquid lipsticks are known for clinging stubbornly to the lips and this shade is no exception.
All in all, this is a pretty good lippie. It’s nice to keep around for times you want to wear a bold lip. This will also look good during a black-tie event. But it’s definitely not something you wear everyday.
This has got to be my favorite Colourpop shade so far, and it's definitely up there on my list of Must Have Liquid Lipsticks. It's the kind of red that goes on any skin tone and with pretty much anything you want to wear. It's also kiss-proof, food-proof, drink-proof, oil-proof, and tropical weather certified. I also bought this when I was still new to applying liquid lipstick and I barely had any trouble with this. The only real issue that I have is price - you can, with some effort, get good dupes (liquid or otherwise) in other brands for cheaper. Nevertheless, if you've got the cash or want to spoil yourself a little plus you're in need of a gorgeous red, give this one a spin.about 2 years ago
If you want to be a head turner, use this. Kidding aside, this shade will definitely make the bystanders stare or glance at you. It suits dark skin very well and it is also lightweight on the lips. Whenever I feel like I have a dull face because of lack of energy and sleep I swipe this shade on my lips and I am ready to go and I look alive as ever. It really pumps up your face and gives you a fiercer look with every swipe.about 2 years ago
