Essie®

Few people in the nail industry are as well-celebrated as Essie Weingarten. Dubbed the “Queen of Polish”, her multi-award-winning polishes are a mainstay in the world’s chicest salons and on the shelves of celebrities, stylists, make-up gurus, and any woman in-the-know. Her fashion-forward colors are a star in their own right, even appearing on the movie Mrs. Doubtfire. Essie’s iconic bottle proves it’s hip to be square. In fact, in 1989, Queen Elizabeth’s hairdresser sent Essie a letter requesting Ballet Slippers- the only color her Majesty would wear. How’s that for a royal blessing?

All that glitters

The sparkle and shine in this nail polish is absolutely fantastic. I’m usually more into small particles in the shimmer of my nail polish but the big particles just goes so well with the gunmetal / silver color. This can definitely turn any plain old black dress into a dress that’s ready to party.

Fabulously good!

Essie Set in Stones nail polish is a good way to transform your boring nail color to something more fun and fabulous in just a few brush strokes. I love how this goes on really smoothly and evenly on the nails. I also love how its chunky glitters shines like diamonds on the nails.

Absolutely beautiful

Really pretty sparkly silver glitter in varying sizes. The largest glitter pieces are hexagons, while the smaller pieces are round. The clear base is the perfect thickness to pick lots of glitter up with each dip of the brush, so you can get really good coverage with 2-3 coats. I usually use 1-2 coats depending on how much of my base color I want to show through. I like to wear this over a nude, pink, beige, or grey usually, or with another multi-color glitter. I've also used this with a jellyish deep red polish to do a jelly sandwich. Because the glitter is so sparkly, it shows through jelly polishes really well. Dry time is fairly quick. Removal is a pain, but it's the case with all glitters. A great glitter polish.

Just okay!

This looks so beautiful on the bottle but it does not look that appealing on the nails on its own. Essis Set in Stones is pretty much glitter in a clear polish. It has a great mix of sizes of the glitter though and it looks great on when layered over other colors. The glitters are bit gritty too. This is also a pain to remove.

Good but could be better

This review is for Essie nail polishes in general. It's quite an expensive nail brand, comparable to the likes of OPI. However I prefer OPI to this since most of the Essie nail polishes I've used chip more frequently. The colors are very nice and there's a lot to choose from but staying power is not so great.
