Few people in the nail industry are as well-celebrated as Essie Weingarten. Dubbed the “Queen of Polish”, her multi-award-winning polishes are a mainstay in the world’s chicest salons and on the shelves of celebrities, stylists, make-up gurus, and any woman in-the-know. Her fashion-forward colors are a star in their own right, even appearing on the movie Mrs. Doubtfire. Essie’s iconic bottle proves it’s hip to be square. In fact, in 1989, Queen Elizabeth’s hairdresser sent Essie a letter requesting Ballet Slippers- the only color her Majesty would wear. How’s that for a royal blessing?
Perfect base coat. Definitely a necessary step in a perfect manicure. Helps keep the nail polish on longer and haps the nail polish go on much smoother. This is a little pricey for a base coat but it's definitely worth a try. I'm pretty positive it helps strengthen your nails a bit as well. I love the fact that it's meant to be moisturizing too.about 1 year ago
Essie Fill The Gap Smoothing Base Coat is one of the very first base coats that I have ever tried. I used to think that applying a base coat is way unnecessary but everything changed when I finally applied this on my nails before doing my nail color. It really keeps my nail polish color intact.over 2 years ago
I usually get my nails done at the salon because I really don't know how to apply polish smoothly. I always try to make it smooth by applying one layer after the other but that only results in making the polish on my nail too thick because I've put on too many layers. Fill The Gap lessened the need for that as it smoothens out the base despite the ridges I have on my nails. No need to go to the salon for a mani-pedi now!over 2 years ago
I bought this specifically to use under Essie's Ballet Slippers. I think we can all agree Ballet Slippers is one of the most finicky polishes to apply: it streaks and applies unevenly. But with Fill the Gap as a foundation, I didn't have any issues with Ballet Slippers. I also don't have any serious ridges either. Fill the Gap leaves a white-ish base on my nails and dries quickly. I think it's a great foundation for under sheers and would look good on its own, too, with a topcoat. For this manicure, I used Revlon's gel basecoat, one coat of Fill the Gap and one coat Ballet Slippers and Poshe quick dry topcoat. Day three and my nails still look good.over 2 years ago
I first learned about this product from one of my all time favorite YouTube beauty gurus. When I was able to get a hold of one, I then realized why she liked it so much. This product really helped make nail polish application just like a walk in the park. It also made my nails stronger!over 2 years ago
