INGREDIENTS: Kapeng Barako Beans
Use 2 tbsps. of coffee to 6 oz. of water and brew using a coffee maker. If you don’t have an available coffee maker or French press at home, try the traditional way for an authentic Barako experience.
STEP 1: Pour 4.5 cups of water in a pot. Add 2 tablespoons of ground Kapeng Barako (modify to suit your taste preference) and allow the water to boil.
STEP 2: Once boiling, reduce heat and add brown sugar as desired. Allow to boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
STEP 3: Turn off heat and set aside for 5 minutes to allow the coffee grounds to settle at the bottom of the pot.
STEP 4: Use coffee filter in transferring to your cup, or use a strainer in the absence of a filter.
This recipe can make 4 cups of coffee. Kapeng barako is traditionally served black or with muscovado. But you can add your favorite cream or milk before serving. Enjoy!
