Five Smiles

Like its brown brother, grains of white adlai are not that big. But unlike it, white adlai grains when cooked are chewy (that's more like it!) and are with thankfully fewer terrorist shells that are like mines to unsuspecting teeth (double yehey!). My special grade: 5 cheshire smiles (with or without the cat).

Healthy substitute to rice

I tried Adlai because of the claim that it’s diabetic friendly. I was initially expecting that it was something similar to Quinoa where it smells like veggie when being cooked. For Adlai, the smell is similar to champorado, like sweet rice being cooked. Texture can be likened to mini binatog kernels but softer. It is a good rice substitute but it’s heavier in the stomach than rice so you just need a few to feel satisfied and full.
