coconutty spread

this spread is quite good, it is not too sweet and it has a very spreadable consistency. it does taste a bit like latik. I tried this on bread and you will taste it's prominent coconut milk flavor first before the sweetness. Minus one star because the oil separates like what happens with peanut butter. Cant wait to try this on suman or puto bumbong.

Better than Matamis na Bao!

This is a rave review because this coconut spread far exceeded my expectations! I can't have my fave matamis na bao and coconut jam anymore for health reasons but this coconut spread is like their better 'cousin'. Texture is similar to vegemite with a bit of tanginess but also shares similarities in flavor to coconut jam without the stickiness. I've eaten this over toast, over bagels, over pancakes, and even straight from the jar. Seriously so good! I have to remind myself not to eat too much.

Perfect for latik-lovers

Growing up, I loved coco jam, so I was pretty excited about this. The texture is pretty different from the grocery store brands, though I'm not sure if that's a pro or con. While store-bought cocojam is sticky and/or runny, this has more of a pulpy/paste-like consistency. This makes it very spreadable and means it doesn't turn solid in the fridge. It basically tastes like latik, which I love. It does have a bit of sourness to it though, and that might turn some people off. Another possible deal-breaker for some is the oiliness. You can taste the coconut oil if you have a sensitive palate. Even though it should be expected given what it is, this really isn't present in store-bought brands. And I don't know if it's because I put it in the fridge first, but the oil separated a bit, which doesn't look that appetizing (according to my husband anyway, I still liked it). Anyway, the smell is just divine and I'm thinking about just straight up treating it like latik and slathering it on some suman.

Perfect Gift for Diabetic Balik-bayan relatives

We all have that one relative (or relatives) who binge on Filipino food whenever they revisit our country. And like most Filipinos living abroad, they are also in denial of how old age would not allow them to indulge much on our native delicacies since they are mostly sweet or fatty. I like how this is an alternative for diabetics to enjoy cocojam, but it's not in-your-face labeled as "healthy". The texture is a big improvement from the usual cocojam: it does not have that cloying stickiness that regular cocojams have. This is also easier to spread and it cleanly slides-off the teaspoon/butter knife. The taste is less sweet compared to the regular cocojam, but it is also much more pronounced, like the filling in piyaya, so a little goes a long way. I hope BeautyMNL has this in stock when my US-based relatives visit, because I know they would love this; specially since they don't have to consciously limit their consumption of it.
