Who doesn't love Chanel? I splurged on this and I love the creamy texture as well as the scent of the product. The packaging is very sophisticated and stays true to the brand. The slanted/flat shape of the lipstick is also nice. Will definitely buy more when I have money.

A must-have lipstick!

At first I hesitated on buying the lipstick because it was pricey compared to other brands. This has been my go-to lipstick ever since I got it. I have mine in La Malicieuse. I can't wait to buy a new bullet and explore the other colors chanel has in this range.

Great matte lipsticks even for those with dry lips!

My lips have been super duper dry for as long as I can remember. I was carrying a lip balm as early as the 2nd grade because my lips would just be so dry. These are the only matte lipsticks that I could wear for the without having my lips crack or dry up, even if I wore it on its own (of course, I'd still recommend using balm underneath). I have this in L'Exuberante and L'Adoree. Both have great pigmentation and last for about 6-7 hours on me. I find that they fade evenly, and leave a bit of a stain.

Absolutely beautiful

I have this in #46 La Malicieuse. It is a raspberry pink shade. Normally I am not a fan of matte lipsticks, but I find that this is not overly dry, crumbly or powdery and can still feel comfortable on the lips. I wouldn't wear this if my lips were in poor condition, but then again most lipsticks look bad on poor lips regardless of the finish. I find this lasts a decent while and it does leave a stain too. Has good pigmentation and it feels like smooth velvet on the lips. Only gripe is that it does not apply perfectly as I need a few swipes as the first does not provide even application. This is a small issue though and is fixed with subsequent swipes. I also thought it would be a bit more pigmented given that it is matte but it is nothing that I am too upset about.

The Best Matte Lipstick I've Tried

I've always wanted to have a to-go matte lipstick in my makeup kit; however, most of those that I've tried are really drying. When I, initially, tried this out, I used lip balm and it seems okay. And so the next day, I tried using it without putting lip balm on, and surprisingly, it never dried up my lips! Been using it for 3 days straight without lip balm (but, of course, I moisturize my lips every night still) and my lips are still fine. Another thing I love about this one is that it's long-lasting and doesn't transfer. Even after 2 meals, it's still there. Pretty pink lips for the whole day! (Shade tried: L'Exuberante)

Moisturizing matte lipstick

Matte lipstick but this is not drying to the lips at all. Though I always put lip balm first before applying any lip color. Very rich in color and has above average staying power even while drinking and eating. I just wish there were more shades to choose from <3

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in #42 L'Eclatante

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in #42 L'Eclatante is a medium bright yellow-based pink that instantly brightens my face in a swipe. The formula sits in between a satin and a matte, and it has a slight sheen to it. The texture is smooth and creamy. It is highly pigmented that I only need one good swipe to achieve full opacity. It doesn't migrate and it feels extremely lightweight on the lips (which is what I love the most about this formula). It stays decently on the lips too despite after a few hours (and drinks) and leaves a nice pink stain afterwards.

#34 La Raffinee

I have this in #34 La Raffinee. It's a gorgeous shade of pinky-mauve, comparable to Nars Audacious "Anna". I used to say that if all my lipsticks died except for one, I'd be okay just with Anna. But now that I have La Raffinee, I'm not so sure! They're pretty similar in color, but not exact dupes. If you have either one, then you don't need both. Same price, same high quality. It would all go down to brand preference and/or shade availability. But me, aaahh. I need both!

Chanel lipsicks are <3

I prefer matte lipsticks over shiny/sheen ones and this one is among the best :) I think any lipstick has the tendency to dry my lips, so I make sure to apply lip balm first (Nivea) or a lip base. Applying this lipstick afterwards becomes a breeze!

the formula of this lipstick is a bit drying

I know that this is like the matte version of Chanel for their lipsticks. I only one one Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour and I like how pigmented it is and how the packaging looks majestic but I find the formula of this lipstick a bit drying.

Very nice!

Chanel makes excellent lipsticks and this velvet matte formula is very nice. It doesn't emphasize dryness on the lips or bleed. It applies smoothly and it's lightweight. It stays on a good 3-4 hours on my lips and is very comfortable to wear. Overall, I am very satisfied. Great product!

Great shocking pink lippie

I have L'Exuberante and it is a very vibrant, blue-based fuschia pink lippie. I use it for days that I want to brighten up my face without having to do a full face of makeup. This does not last long on my lips as I tend to eat my lipstick. The tube lasts a while because you do not need a lot of swipes as it is highly pigmented

I only have one Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour from Chanel which I picked up from the Changi Airport when I was transiting some time ago. I like the packaging and the mechanism about it. I also love how pigmented this lipstick is. But I find this a bit drying on the lips.

For velvety matte lips

My Chanel lipsticks probably sit on the thrones of my makeup stash. I'm a matte lipstick girl, but I love the Rouge Allure Lipstick nonetheless, as it wasn't shiny, and is quite long lasting. Just last week I tried the Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick. True enough, it is velvety, a bit matte but not super flat. My money will still go to the non-velvet ones, for the reason that I love the shade selection better. But this velvet one still gets some love from me.

Not So Drying for a Matte Lipstick

Matte lipsticks are generally drying. It's in their nature. When I stumble across a formula that's not as quick to cause cracking, peeling lips as others do, I take the time to appreciate it. Such is the case for Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet. True to it's name, it feels velvety and smells like roses. (Doesn't it bring to mind velvety rose petals?) The pigmentation is strong due to the matte finish. It feels comfortable and moisture disappears gradually. I've never experienced cracked lips with this one.
