”Nothing annoys me more than when someone says that because they didn’t like a product that means it may be good for people “new” to makeup, but not for a beauty buff! I am a makeup buff & I LOVE this foundation! I ordered this online after trying soo many “amazing” foundations that just wouldn’t stick to my super oily tzone. Nothing looks more disgusting than when your tzone has lost all its makeup but your cheeks are still intact! I bought tf peaches foundation the same day I ordered this thinking it would be about a week or 2 til this arrived. It came in 4 days!! I reach for this more than any of my expensive foundations (ud, tf, mjacobs, mufe) & drugstore holy grails (fitme, Milani, nyx, loreal). While I love most of the above mentioned foundations, this one is the best color match & I never have to worry about whether it has come off my tzone 2 hours into my workday, & one I have rarely ever had to touch up 6-8 hours later. I cannot say that of any of the above mentioned brands that I use.”

Shake before use. Dispense a small amount onto the palm or the back of your hand. Smooth on and blend throughout the face, ideally outward from the midpoint of the face.

Serum Foundations sold in the European Union offer an SPF 15 claim. This protection is achieved without the use of chemical sunscreens and only through physical protection from Titanium Dioxide. Additionally, no nano-particles are used to achieve this sun protection. These attributes are unique in foundations because it is exceptionally difficult to create a natural, lightweight look and consistent shades when using only non-nano forms of Titanium Dioxide for sun protection without any chemical sunscreen agents.

Please note that the formulations are and will be the same in all markets but the packaging will claim SPF 15 only in the European Union while regulatory processes for claiming SPF in other markets are carried out individually.

Each foundation format is available in 21 shades. The shades are divided into three categories: 1 for fair to lighter tones, 2 for medium tones; and 3 for darker tones. Each category is then classified further by a second digit from 0 to 3 to indicate depth within each category. Finally, a letter is added to the shade code to identify the undertone: P (Pink) and R (Red) indicate cool undertones for lighter and darker shades respectively; N indicates a Neutral tone; Y indicates a Yellow undertone. Each shade code has a descriptive name as well. For example, 1.2P is Light with Pink Undertones while 3.0Y is Medium Dark with Yellow Undertones. For a complete shade guide, please click here.

Three of the shades have an additional letter at the end: S indicates Silver highlights and G indicates Gold highlights; these shades use natural-looking and exceptionally fine dispersions of metallic effect pigments for added highlight. The Ordinary will introduce individual enhancers and highlighters in the near future to customize all shades.

The unique suspension system used in the formulations allows shades to look so natural on skin that three shades or more will suit most skin tones. The shades can also be mixed at the time of application if desired.

You get what you pay for

For the price, it'll do. Coverage is medium at best and decent staying power. I'm normal/combination and I find that I need to moisturize heavily on dry spots as this clings to rough, spot-treated areas on my face. Also, the shade range isn't great for medium skintone. I'm a Bobbi Brown Natural, Marc Jacobs Shameless Y320, Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless 128 (equivalent to MAC NC25/30, face and body C3 according to temptalia) and the 2.1Y is too yellow while the 2.0YG is too pale. I got the perfect shade when I mixed both. Final verdict: will use up my current stash but won't be buying again.

Would be very satisfied if...

The product is super lightweight, it doesn't feel like you have something on your face, it glides on smoothly and I really like the gold highlights because my skin doesn't look flat. I also like that I found the perfect shade for my skin tone from this brand. Best thing about the product: it doesn't break me out. There are few things that I don't like though: it doesn't give full coverage so I need to put concealer for my dark spots, and it seems like the product doesn't completely set as it keeps transferring to the tissue paper whenever I blot oil and sweat off of my face, even after wearing it for several hours. Also, I hope that The Ordinary would come up with a new formulation and remove the silicone ingredient from it as the risk of having clogged pores is likely high.

The perfect foundation

A foundation that is perfect for beginners! This product does not necessarily covers the dark spots and blemishes, but it is definitely good enough to make your skin look good. I like how this is cruelty-free and it does not contain any ingredients that can be a cause of breakout, especially for oily skin types like mine. This is a good investment.

so-so

I love the texture, consistency and coverage of this foundation but it just can't last more than 2 hours on my face. It's probably because of my oily skin but to be fair, I prep properly before makeup. The deal breaker for me though is whenever I use this, I breakout. I also notice that the 2.1 Y is too orange-y for a NC40 like me, so be warned.

The hype is real(!!!) BUT...

I am not the person who would easily give in to hyped products but I got my first bottle of The Ordinary Coverage Foundation for only $9!!! It's not a lot of money so I did not think twice to get it. Most of the high quality drugstore foundations that I know costs around $12 and more so it is relatively cheaper. My verdict for this foundation is positive! It gives medium to full coverage that lasts for a whole day at work. It also does not break me out. However, it's overpriced here in the Philippines!!! I even heard that this product can even go on sale for as low as $6!!!

Beautiful but a bit pricey here in the Philippines

This product is really nice and I can understand the rave about it. However, here in the Philippines, this is a bit pricey. It can be purchased for $6-7 in other countries and I think that is one of the reasons it got so popular. For those who have the money to spare, I suggest you try it, it's a relatively nice product, but for those who are looking for the best bang for their buck, try others like the L'oreal pro matte
