Great oil for hair and body
First of all, I'd like to give a disclaimer that this is the first pure argan oil product I have ever used. Therefore, I'll be reviewing the efficacy of this product based on its own and I'll be rating it based on how I've used it on my daily regimen.
I can only compare this to virgin coconut oil, Lumiere Organiceuticals' marula oil, and Human Nature's tea tree oil. Out of these four, this argan oil and tea tree oil have thinnest consistency (about the same) and the VCO has the thickest while marula oil is in between.
The bottle itself is nice. It's glass but is not slippery to the touch. However, I don't like the dropper of this one. If you hold it in a stationary vertical position for an extended period of time, you'll notice that the oil continues to drip even if you don't press the dropper. I actually have the same issue with Human Nature's tea tree oil. However, I don't experience the same thing with The Ordinary' and Innisfree's droppers. I store my marula oil in the Innisfree bottle but it never drips like this one
As a hair oil
As One Earth Organics argan oil has thinnest consistency out of the three aforementioned oils, I prefer to use this as my hair oil. On that note, I have bleached hair around level 7 (blonde) so there are days when I do need to apply hair oil as the ends look really dry at times. I previously used VCO for this but I found that while VCO functions well as a 30-minute hair mask, it’s just too thick and greasy for just normal daily use. Marula oil works too but I find that argan oil is the least tacky while still being fully capable of managing my tresses. However, this will not make your extremely damaged hair healthier as it's only a coating of oil on the surface which will get washed off. I don't think anything except possibly Olaplex can do that so try to manage expectations.
As body oil (mixed with lotion)
Now this is where I really use this oil. I suffer from eczema that regularly appear on my lower extremities and d not go away unless I apply topical steroidal creams. For a few years now, I’ve only used Dove sensitive skin soap and Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion (unscented) since I find that both products have helped minimize the issue. The key word there though is minimize. While the problem does crop up less, I still suffer from eczema every now and then.
Ever since I started to a I started to add this to my lotion though, I haven’t experience this problem. That’s approximately a month of clear skin. I also haven’t added anything else to my regimen (except for a few days of using marula oil instead just to see the difference) which can explain the improvement in my skin condition. As I’m only adding around 2-3 drops of oil to my lotion, it also doesn’t feel tacky at all when I do this.
Do you need to buy this particular oil/brand?
I’d say not necessarily. I’d reckon that as long as you’re using pure argan oil, there won’t be a big difference. I also do think marula oil can do what this one does too. I can't say it's in my HG yet since I haven't tried enough oils to really give a statement but this IS a very nice product for the uses I've stated and it's also quite affordable in comparison to most of the oils being sold here.
