The Make Peace Bakery is a local social enterprise located at the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm that aims to help underprivileged, out of school youth to go back to schooling through the Make Peace Bakery training program.
Founded by bakers and catering businesswomen Anj Mariano-Calungcaguin and Yok Calungcaguin, the two decided to move to the GK Enchanted Farm after being inspired by a GK Social Business Summit. They then partnered with rural and urban areas in the Philippines to build baking communities and train the youth to learn baking, product development, and business skills. This helps the youth grow their own bakery and make sure they profit from it equally.
At the end of the day, the goal of the bakeries is to serve its own community offering healthy, fresh, and affordable breads and create social entrepreneurs out of them – ready to manage their own business and stand on their own. Offering classic products like Pan de sal to Pan de Chocolat which you can never go wrong with to scrumptious snacks to cookies and biscotso, The Make Peace Bakery will only continue to expand and grow.
