Celebrated All-American designer Marc Jacobs has developed a storied career in fashion. In the mid-80s, he began designing the first collection that bears his own name. It would reference a wide range of styles and push the boundaries when it comes to American fashion. This was the birth of the Marc Jacobs brand.

Pretty soon, the brand would be showered with acclaim. In 1987, Jacobs would become the youngest designer to ever receive one of the fashion industry’s highest tributes: the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Perry Ellis Award for “New Fashion Talent.” This was just the beginning for the brand’s exploration of new and exciting styles.

Indeed, the Marc Jacobs brand was one of the first to embrace what is called “street-wise aesthetics.” This style can be best described as a mix of a little preppy, a little grunge, and a little couture—combined into a unified look. The resulting hype and mystique would then be ramped up even further by the use of unexpected models and celebrity endorsers. Famous names over the years would include Charlotte Rampling, Dakota Fanning, and even Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice.

Today, there are now around 300 Marc Jacobs retail stores in 60 countries. And if you can’t get enough of their designs, they have now also expanded into producing fashion accessories. This includes a selection of bags, watches, and even fragrances. The brand has even started selling their own line of makeup and cosmetics products.

With three decades’ worth of experience in fashion, Marc Jacobs continues to test the limits of American fashion. But beneath it all is a desire to create designs that entice and excite. In his own words, Jacob believes that, “Fashion isn’t a necessity. It pulls at your heart. It’s a whim. You don’t need it. You want it.” If you want your own taste of this trendsetting fashion label, then browse through their products here on BeautyMNL. Order online now!
