One of the best things you can do for your body is to exercise! Not only does it keep you in shape, it also regulates your moods, lowers stress levels, improves your complexion, and leaves you with a natural happy vibe that’s hard to beat. (Really! Google “happy hormones.”) But sometimes, getting down and dirty at the gym can take a toll on your skin if you’re not careful. So here are some low-maintenance products that you can pack in your gym bag to make sure your skin is protected while you burn those calories. Works for me!
1. NELLY DE VUYST’S CLEANSING MILK HYDROCELL
My number one rule when working out: cleanse your face before and after. Do not skip this! A lot of people make the mistake of hitting the gym without taking all the gunk off their face first. The combination of sweat and makeup is a definite no-no because it can cause pimples and rashes. Make sure you wash your face thoroughly before your workout regimen and cleanse again afterwards to clear your pores of sweat and dirt.
2. FRESH’S SUGAR ROSÉ LIP TREATMENT
Whenever you work out, your cheeks give off a natural rosy-colored hue. This is your body’s way of making you feel pretty while exercising. Match your flushed cheeks with a subtle lip balm that adds comfortable moisture, like this cult-fave lip treatment.
3. BEAUTY BAKERY’S CLARIFYING WITCH HAZEL MIST
It’s a good idea to keep a facial mist next to your water bottle so you can also hydrate your skin while you cool down for a water break. A few spritzes of this will refresh your face even as you work out.
4. ZENUTRIENTS’ MUSCLE MEND ROLL-ON OIL
This tiny roller can do wonders for an aching body. Rub it over painful areas on your back, shoulders, legs, and arms for an instant pick-me upper after your workout. It fits perfectly into your kikay kit, too!
5. MY PRIME’S MATTIFYING MOISTURIZER
After your work out, as I’ve mentioned before, it’s important to cleanse thoroughly and apply a moisturizer right away. This shine-controlling formula will seal in the moisture on your face and give you a fresh glow as soon as you step out of the gym/studio. No haggard look here!
