As far as local brands go, V&M Naturals has been pretty top tier on our skincare shelf. Their CPC+G Oil? Holy grail. Witch Hazel Toner? Pore-fection. It’s as if all their miracle oils and creams were made especially to treat your skin’s every need. The only way they could ever one up themselves is if they threw makeup into the mix. And guess what? They did. Enter: Silk Serum Foundation.
It’s already been months since the launch of their foundation line, but the formula is still going strong with a 4.7 average rating. And after scrolling through the reviews, it’s easy to see why. Raved about for its lightweight feel, moisturizing formula, natural finish, and in-built sun protection, it’s the perfect cross between skincare and makeup. (Music to our ears!)

Which brings us to… testing time. You guys already know, we love trying out new products. More so if it’s something you’ve been loving! So naturally, we had to see for ourselves. Does it live up to the hype? Below, we break it all down in an 8-hour wear test. Scroll for a peek!

We’ll be putting the Silk Serum Foundation to the test by seeing how long it’ll last after nearly a whole day at the office—no retouching, no blotting. For this, our officemate Gabby graciously agreed to be our guinea pig and will be sharing her thoughts throughout the process, from her first impressions down to how well it wore on her combination skin.

As this would mean her skin can oil and dry up in different areas, we asked Gabby to start off by prepping her face with a primer before blending in the foundation with a damp sponge. Then, to lock it all in place, she’ll finish off by brushing a loose setting powder all over, focusing on her T-zone.

Once the 8 hours are up, we’ll take a look at how much coverage was left, what it did best, and who we’d recommend it for. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

GABBY SAYS: “It feels like I’m applying on a moisturizer in terms of consistency. The formula’s also sheerer than I expected, and I would say that it evens out skin tone more than give my skin coverage. But I do like that it’s lightweight. It’s really light on the face and feels like I’m not wearing any foundation at all.”

GABBY SAYS: “After 8 hours, it feels really lightweight still. More so like a tinted moisturizer or bb cream than an actual foundation. In terms of the claims that it’s waterproof, oil-proof, and sweat-proof, I’m quite iffy considering I was sweating and it showed oil on my forehead. But it did hold up pretty well on the dry parts of my face. As a foundation, it’s not big on coverage. I think that it’s more perfect for those who don’t really like heavy coverage on their faces. I would recommend it for an everyday makeup look cause it really looks natural on your skin.”
