It’s a term we come across often, whether from our favorite wellness influencers or on healthy snack packages. But… what exactly is a superfood? Harvard’s The Nutrition Source says, “a food is promoted to superfood status when it offers high levels of desirable nutrients, is linked to the prevention of a disease, or is believed to offer several simultaneous health benefits beyond its nutritional value.” Sign us up!
Luckily for us, quite a number of natural, real-food snacks out there are actually superfoods as well. A lot of nuts, fruits, seeds (and more!) have incredible properties. The ones we tried here are packed with nutrients, contain essential amino acids, and are full of vitamins, omega-3s, and healthy fats!
We collected some of our favorite superfood snacks from The Green Tummy and gathered four people who were surprised to find just how amazing these seemingly ordinary treats actually are for your body. 1. Sugar Coated Cacao Nibs (80g), P135
