We like to think of 2016 as the year of the maximalist. We learned a million and one ways to contour, wore a lot of loud lipstick, and sketched out seriously graphic eyeliner looks. But for 2017, we’re predicting a shift in the beauty scene—one that’s already being carried out by the stars and their MUAs. This is the year that fully embraces au naturel, instead of just dabbling in it on lazy days. From soft-focus application to a brand-new MLBB, here are 7 minimalist makeup trends you’ll be spying on the red carpet.

“Beach skin” is the raw embodiment of an endless summer: a sun-kissed glow, rosy cheeks, and a healthy skin texture that shines through sheer makeup. To get the look, Anne Curtis applies a champagne illuminator in strategic places.
Nadine Lustre, on the other hand, employs peach blush and pseudo-freckles for skin that looks translucent.

This year brings an unexpected twist to our MLBB: shine. Imagine silk fabric: it’s got a glint to it, but not enough to make it flashy. The same goes for 2017’s nudes! Make like KC Concepcion and top yours with gloss.
Pia Wurtzbach goes about it by swiping on a demi-matte formula. The dramatic lashes make her understated nude stand out.

Shiny touches of neutral color will revamp your smoky eye. See how Max Collins tightlined with shimmer?
To spice up her mauve shadow, Kim Chiu dabbed a little white-gold in the inner corners of her eyes.

The art of monochrome makeup has withstood the test of time. Now, it features softer, more flowery hues to elevate one’s natural beauty. Above, Mari Jasmine embodies spring with her cherry-blossom makeup.
Using an apricot color palette, Rhian Rhamos exudes a soft femininity and outdoorsy flush.

The so-called “barely-there brow” is all about ultra-natural shape, texture, and color, with just a teensy bit of polish. Liza Soberano executes this trend perfectly.
Martine Cajucom’s arches are always on fleek, but recently she has pared down her pair with a sheer sweep of color.

News flash: “draping” is the new contouring, and it involves nothing but blush. Picture the way a dress drapes over a woman’s body, and you’ll get the general idea of how to “drape” your face with blush. The color should just hug your facial contours to accentuate them—nothing too stark or obvious. Take Coleen Garcia’s pop of color as your peg.
Sweep your blush from the temples towards the apples of your cheeks, using a large “C” shape. The result: instant freshness à la Iza Calzado!

Chrome tips ‘n’ toes remove the need for jewelry, because they will be the most blinged out nail treatment you will ever get. Mimicking the mirror effect of sunglasses and tinted car windows, these polishes make a statement all on their own.
Why limit yourself to rose-tinted glasses when you have rosy tips and toes?
