There’s a time in every girl’s life when she comes face to face with the truth of her own maturity. For me, that time is now (drama!). Honestly though, I’m not sure what’s going on, but my magnifying mirror has been showing me my entire skin-history: the years I spent under the sun, the times I forgot to wash off my makeup, the late nights of surfing the Internet and even later nights spent out on the town with my friends. This is all to say that the signs of bona fide adulthood will sneak up sooner than you think. That’s why there’s no better time to use an anti-aging product than right about now. After all, it’s easier to prevent fine lines, large pores, and age spots than it is to get rid of them.

Here’s my biggest concern about incorporating an anti-ager into my routine: how will my sensitive, combination skin react to it? Many of these formulas—while truly beneficial for wrinkle care—contain ingredients that congest the skin (and trust me, I am very easily congested). What’s a twenty-something trying to keep it together to do? My saving grace (at least, according to my research) hails from France. Meet the Expert Anti-Aging Cream by Novexpert, a hypoallergenic moisturizer that’s chemical-free and made with natural ingredients. Meaning, if you have easily-triggered skin, this French-made formula won’t break you out.

The cream contains shea butter and macadamia nut oil to moisturize the skin, and Omega 3, 6, and 9 to accelerate cell turnover. It’s biggest claim, above all, is that you will see results in a week’s time. We shall see! I took home our office sample for a five-day-long review, which you can find below. Although it’s marketed as a cream, this product actually has a gel-like formula that sinks into the skin beautifully. That said, it is quite thick and creamy; the kind of consistency you want for dry skin. Because I have dry and oily skin, I am using this product in lieu of my night cream (I don’t want to overdo it). I hope it won’t interfere with my efforts to clear up my skin, which has been giving me grief lately. There aren’t any visible effects yet, but I want to note how much I love the medicinal smell. It isn’t overpowering, and it isn’t perfumey (which might make it an acquired taste) but it’s right up my alley. At least I know it’s not packed with fragrances that will cause flare-ups. A pea-sized amount of this stuff goes a long way, I’m finding out. I can moisturize my entire face with just a single dollop. So far, it hasn’t broken me out. Score: me! Upon a close inspection of the pores dotting my nose and cheeks, I noticed that they actually look smaller! I know it is physically impossible to “close” my pores, but it was nice to see them tighter and finer, when usually they’re enormous. Also, my skin is super smooth right now. I have to control the urge to touch it with unwashed hands. I used the cream last night as usual, and this morning, I finally saw real effects. Even with only a few hours of sleep (it’s hellweek at BeautyMNL), it looks like I got at least eight! My face is free of frown lines and sunken patches, and my skin has a plump, “bouncy” look to it. I’m going makeup-free today—I’m feeling myself! Let’s get one thing straight: the Expert Anti-Aging Cream doesn’t claim to remove years from your face. You won’t time-travel back to your teenage-dom and regain the collagen you lost in adulthood. BUT, there is a noticeable effect on the quality of your skin. My uneven skin tone , fine lines, and pores were certainly less visible by the end of the week, and I had this youthful, non-stressed glow, just like I did back in college. Seeing such a difference in the span of five days is enough motivation for me to use it again tonight. Bonsoir!
