Mauve lipstick can be tricky. It’s a neutral rose that’s great for every day, but it’s deeper and certainly more dramatic than, say, a nude. A flattering shade of mauve exudes freshness and romance, while a not-quite-flattering shade will age you in an instant. We would definitely say that this color is great on Filipina skin—but there are so many mauves to choose from!

Then we chanced upon this beauty:
Meet Desire, a shade from the Creamy Matte Lipstick collection by Pink Sugar. Desire is a deep, dusty rose that’s on the cool side of the color spectrum—and we’re calling it the ultimate universal mauve. It doesn’t have the same subtlety of your typical MLBB shade, but it is the kind of color that will have your friends asking, “Hey, what’s on your lips?” Not to mention, this berry shade is perfect for the holiday season.

Desire looks good on everybody, and we can prove it! Six of us girls at the BeautyMNL office tried this lipstick on for size, below:

FAIR SKIN

Left: Karen
“I like Desire because of its muted but very pigmented dusty rose color. It’s perfect for low-key days at the office when I need to look put together with minimal effort!”

Right: Karyl
“Desire is gorgeous. I love that it goes well with different skin tones—it shows up differently, depending on the person’s skin tone, so you can’t even tell it’s the same color! For my skin tone, I’d say it’s great as a bold daytime lip or subtle nighttime pout.”

MEDIUM SKIN

Left: Dani
“Even if it doesn’t create that just-been-kissed effect that I typically go for, I definitely see myself reaching for this tube again and again. The color is incredibly versatile and can go from day to night in a heartbeat.”

Right: Anaelle
“Although it’s darker than what I’m used to, I like that this shade doesn’t look too stark against my skin. I can imagine wearing it to a fancy dinner party or a night out with my friends.”

TAN SKIN

Left: Rimina
“I was surprised at how good this shade looked on a darker complexion like mine. I’m definitely going to start wearing this whenever I want to amp up my look for the office or after-hours.”

Right: Jessa
“This is now my favorite shade from all the Pink Sugar lippies! It looks really natural but still brightens my entire face. I would wear this every day!”

Each tube of Desire only goes for P349 a pop. Isn’t it just the mauve you’ve been waiting for? For similar shades (and matching price tags), we’d recommend the following:

There are variations in deepness and undertone, but these matte mauves should satisfy your rose-tinted cravings in two coats. Try ‘em!
