Every day, we get questions from our customers about all things beauty. It can be about anything, from which products we personally swear by to exactly how to use them for best results. So this week, the BeautyMNL Editors are answering a few inquiries that came in through the mail. By that, of course, we mean our email: sos@beautymnl.com. There’s no Q too big or too small, too strange or too simplistic, so keep ‘em coming, beautiful!

Ali: “Can you recommend an easy makeup look to do for Christmas? I usually just wear my regular makeup to all my holiday gatherings, but I want to try something different this year.”

ANSWER: You know what we love about the holiday season? It’s the perfect excuse to change up your look! Even the subtlest switch can make a dramatic difference. But if it’s your first time to veer away from your regular look, we recommend keeping it simple.

Our go-to look for the holidays is this: a deep red lip, nude smoky eyes, and clean, flawless skin. This basic beauty formula is as classic as it gets! And the best news of all is that it flatters all faces regardless of your skin tone. See the step-by-step, below!

To give the eyes and lips as much impact as possible, you’ll want a smooth, even canvas. Dot foundation over your skin, then blend it out with a moist makeup sponge.

WHAT WE USED: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, P399, and Pro Studio Miracle Edge Sponge, now on sale at P249 (limited time only). Shop the foundation here and the makeup sponge here!

Use a brow pencil to create the cleanest, most polished arches possible. Lightly fill in the sparse areas of your brows using hair-like strokes.
Then, distribute and soften the color using a spoolie. You want your brows to look as natural as possible. By brushing them out, this helps you avoid that heavy, Pentel-penned look.

Enhance your eyes by smoking them out with neutral colors. You’ll need three eyeshadows to create this look: a pale brown for your base, a shimmery nude for the center, a dark brown for your crease.
Sweep the pale brown over your entire lid.

The color should end just below your brow bone. This will serve as the base color of your entire eye look.
Next, add a hint of sparkle with the shimmery nude. Concentrate the color in the center of your lid and across your lashline.

Intensify this shadow as needed if you want more shimmer.
Give your eyes subtle dimension with the dark brown shade. Sweep it across your crease, all the way down to the outer corner of your eye.
Then, lightly blend out the color with your fingertip.

WHAT WE USED: Pink Sugar Eye Candy Eyeshadow Quad in Caffe Latte, P399. Shop it here!
Finish up your eye makeup with a layer of lengthening mascara. Wiggle the wand from the base of your lashes to the very tips. This will create a fanned-out effect and instantly widen your eyes.

Make your face bloom with a hint of tint. Here, we used a liquid blush. Dot the pigment across the apple of your cheeks and blend it out with your fingers.
By using a liquid formula, you create a barely-there, built-in flush.

No holiday look is complete without a pop of color! For a sexy, party-ready pout, swipe a dark wine shade over your lips. Use a lip brush if you need to—dark shades look best with precision application.

The finishing touch: highlighter! Take a liquid illuminator and sweep it over the parts of your face that reflect light. These are as follows: the tops of your cheekbones, nose bridge, chin, and between your brows.
Blend out your highlighter with a moist makeup sponge to eliminate harsh edges. This will leave you with a soft, candle-lit glow.
