Now, this is some exciting news. To start your 2016 right, the world’s color authority is serving up not one, but two pretty shades for you to obsess over. According to Pantone, Rose Quartz (a warm, discreet pink) and Serenity (a cool, airy blue) are the colors that will dominate the New Year. It’s the first time Pantone has bestowed the Color of the Year title on a tandem, so this is a big deal, people!
What we like most about having two hues for 2016 is that there’s something for everybody. If you’re working with a warm skin tone, you’ll gravitate towards the lovely, barely-there pink that is Rose Quartz (think: peachy-nude lipstick and shy, blushing cheeks). If you’re cool-complected, you’ll have no problem easing into Serenity, which brings to mind the powdery, periwinkle sky of an early dawn. And if you’re blessed with a neutral canvas, Pantone suggests wearing both pastels at once!
Allow us to quote the experts: “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.” Translation: keep calm and color-block on.
