Our first brush with Arla Salcedo was via her foodie Instagram page, @plantbasedpilipina. Bright, colorful, and full of life, it’s a curation that’s hard to look away from. Most of her posts spotlight whole foods brought together in enticing #nourishbowls, which are wholesome, macro-fulfilling servings of veggies, grains, protein, and fats. You learn a lot about Arla by simply scrolling through her feed: she’s clearly an advocate for balanced eating; she loves local health food brands; and she’s making great progress on her PCOS journey.
In 2015, Arla was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, otherwise known as PCOS. Back then, her doctor had simply prescribed her birth control pills to manage her symptoms. But over time, Arla realized that her mind and body weren’t at their best on medication—so she decided to change her lifestyle to suit her better. Arla’s still on her journey, learning everyday, and she continues to share her experience on multiple platforms so fellow PCOS sufferers could thrive with her.
