Today, South Korea is one of the world’s biggest beauty authorities. So we weren’t surprised to find that the same Asian giant serving us snail cream and ombré lips has surfaced yet another groundbreaking look.

Introducing the V Look, a haircut trend pioneered by L’Oréal Professionnel that is creating a stir among SoKo stars and civilians alike. According to L’Oreal Pro (only one of the world’s leading salon brands!), this haircut is universally flattering. And on top of that, it’s said to make your face look slimmer.

That’s K-Drama queen Yoon Eun Hye showcasing the V Look. As you can see, this game-changing haircut features wispy bangs, lots of layers, and a flattering hair color strategically designed to frame the face. This is what creates that highly-coveted V-shaped contour. Consider it an unconventional addition to the growing list of ways to contour your face (no makeup involved, this time).

The V Look was unveiled in Manila at the L’Oreal Professionnel V Look Revelation Launch, held at K-Pub in BGC on September 8. Yoon Eun Hye was not present at the launch, but we did learn that the Korean beauty is the brand’s first ever Asian spokesmodel. #ContinentRepresent
The night’s crowning glory (pun intended) was a live hair demo by Simon Koh, owner and creative director of Elle Academy Malaysia and L’Oréal Professionnel Ambassador.

In honor of the event, Simon showed his on-the-spot interpretations of the V Look. The V Look can be executed on long or short hair, which in turn can be styled in a variety of ways. Now, keep in mind that Korean-inspired trends are known for pushing boundaries—and Simon certainly did not hold back. According to him, these wild hairstyles have a face-slimming effect that create the illusion of a V-shaped face. What do you think of these Hallyu-wave hairstyles? Would you get the V Look for yourself? Sound off in the comments!
