I’m one of those people who simply cannot live without makeup. I’m a firm believer that a little maquillage can make all the difference, but did you know that applying too much or using a product the wrong way can also leave you looking worse or older than how you looked sans any makeup?

Here’s a complete step-by-step routine to show you how to use makeup to enhance your features, and take years away from your face:

STEP 1: FOUNDATION

TRY: LA Girl Illuminating Foundation, P799

In order to get a more sheer, natural finish, try spritzing your makeup sponge with water or any hydrating facial spray. This will help dilute the foundation formula and lend a youthful radiance to skin.

STEP 2: CONCEALER

TRY: LA Girl PRO Conceal, 349

Most people make this crucial mistake: they apply concealer all over the under eye area. When in reality, there’s only the “half-moon” portion that needs some serious camouflage. Remember, concealer formulations tend to be on the thicker side, so the less you apply, the better. Too much can actually do more harm than good, and make your fine lines look even more prominent.

STEP 3: BROWS

TRY: Tinchew Triangle Eyebrow Pencil, P650

Dark and overly filled-in brows equals an aged look. Stick to light, feathery strokes instead to mimic hair strands, and go extra easy on that arch. There’s a reason why Koreans are known for their A game when it comes to brows. The less pronounced the arch, the younger the appearance. We love this brow pencil because it deposits color delicately.

STEP 4: MASCARA

TRY: W7 Lashtastic Mascara, P350

When it comes to lashes, again, less is more. Limit swipes to just two, and make sure to remove any excess product before applying it onto your lashes. The aim here is to get extra long, curly and jet-black lashes. Clumps are definitely a no-no.

STEP 5: BLUSH

TRY: Pink Sugar Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color in Miss Independent, P299

The best way to achieve a natural looking flush is to smile, and apply the color right on the apples of your cheeks. Refrain from using unnatural colors like orange or brick red, and stick to peachy-pinks or berry shades instead. And take note: when trying to look youthful, contouring should be avoided altogether.

STEP 6: POWDER

TRY: LA Girl Pro Face Pressed Powder, P549

Always use powder sparingly. I find that using a brush disperses the powder better (sponges tend to lay it on too thick). Also, stick to the T-zone only. The rest of the face can actually do without powder as those areas don’t have a tendency to get oily anyway.

STEP 7: LIPS

TRY: Prettify Creamy Matte Lipstick in Clay, P395

The MLBB craze is still very much a hot trend, and understandably so! You want to mimic the actual color of your pout—but with a more even and hydrated look. Always start with a lip balm, then choose a lip hue that closely resembles your lips. Skip the lipliner for an au naturale look.
