No patience for the Kardashian contour? You can still sculpt your way to success with these nifty tricks!

1. CHANGE YOUR EVERYDAY ‘DO.

We love the tidiness of pulled-back buns and pin-straight hair, but if you don’t have the bone structure of Solenn Heussaff, both styles tend to make your face look wider. Try wearing your hair down, parted at the center or on the side. Fact: layered hair with texture to it (like waves or curls) will temper broad or round facial features.

2. FOCUS ON YOUR EYES.

Here’s something we just learned: accentuating your eyes, rather than your lips, elongates the face. Prominent lips will draw to eye to the lower half of the face—the swoop of your cheek, the softness of your mouth, the roundedness of your jaw. Prominent eyes, on the other hand, will draw the eye up towards your more angular features—cheekbones, brow bones, forehead. So the next time you’re feeling bloated, try swapping your bold lip for a graphic cat eye, and note the difference.

3. TONE DOWN THE PLUCKING.

Growing out your brows isn’t just a hot beauty trend—it’s also a nifty way to slim down your features. Darker, bushier brows with longer ends will interrupt the expanse of a full, round face, framing your features in such a way that they look a slightly sharper and leaner.

4. TAKE THE SHORTCUT TO CONTOURING: HIGHLIGHTING.

This takes no longer than your daily blush-dusting. Apply your highlighter in three places: at the top of your forehead (right in the center of the hairline), in a straight line down your nose, and at your Cupid’s bow. Doing this draws the eye to the center of your face, rather than the widest points opposites of it, thus creating an illusion of shrinkage.
