Cold brew coffee isn’t just a summer drink. Subtly sweet, smooth, and shockingly strong—it packs the punch you crave without the acidity of an intense java. What’s not to love?

We could sing the praises of cold brew all day, but the possibility of buying your cold brew from your favorite coffee shop may be on hold for now. So, why not B.I.Y. (Brew It Yourself)?

Here, we show you how to make your own cold brew at home—and luckily, it’s a lot easier than you think. You only need ground-up coffee beans, water, and some patience.

  • 3/4 cup coarsely ground coffee
  • 4 cups cold water

  • French press

STEP 1: Pour the coffee into your French press.

STEP 2: Slowly add in the water, stirring gently to make sure all coffee grounds are moistened.

STEP 3: Place on the lid (but do not press down on the plunger). Let stand for 12 hours at room temperature.

STEP 4: Press down on the plunger. Pour into a glass, add ice, and enjoy.
You’ll never buy another cold brew coffee again!
