As 2019 has proven, we’re now all #woke to its many perks and benefits, from re-balancing our pH levels to prepping our base for layers of skin-plumping moisture.

Our customers are as sold as we are on the beauty of toner, and their top-rated favorites just happen to be some of ours, too. Looking to score a shiny new source of skin nourishment? Start with any of the 20 best reviewed toners of 2019, below!

Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner, P1,150 Moriela, 24: “When they said it’s an HG for glass skin, they weren’t wrong. The ingredients are so potent they actually make your skin supple AND prep your face for the next step. By itself, it’s made to be the “carrier” of the next skincare product you’ll use and increases its effectivity. I recommend this as a starter toner for those building up their skincare, since it’s mild and definitely delivers with proper use.”

Pixi by Petra Pixi Glow Tonic (100ml), P1,050 Giselle, 25: “Had the best skin of my life for the month after I started using this. Instantly makes the skin glow and look healthy. Also seemed to help control the texture and color of my skin. Just ran out of my first bottle and I will absolutely purchase this again. It has become one of my skincare staples.”

Mamonde Rose Water Toner (25ml), P75 Maria, 33: “I have finally proven that the rose set from Mamonde is heaven-sent. This one actually made my pimple marks flatten and I had minimal breakouts after using this for one week! Yes, one week! Just like the gel cream, this one is also a miracle-worker for blemishes. Very gentle on my sensitive skin and it smells oh-so-nice!”

Widleaf Witch Hazel Rosy Toner, P690 Flosabel, 21: “This is my first time using a Wildleaf product and I’m so in love with it. At first, I was hesitant to buy this because of its price, but every peso is worth it. It gave me that fresh-looking, glass skin look. I use it before I put on my makeup and it has given me a youthful glow. I also use this every night before I put on my serum and moisturizer. One spray goes a long a way.”

Celeteque Hydration Alcohol-Free Toner, P129 Gerone, 23: “I’ve been using this product for a month and a half, and it’s really hydrating. My skin was really dehydrated and super oily before, but after using this toner, my skin is now so smooth, glowing, and always fresh. I guess that’s the hydration. I’m not actually a fan of toner because it usually stings. But when I found out that this product doesn’t contain alcohol and that it has witch hazel, I immediately purchased it. I’ll definitely repurchase.”

Laneige Fresh Calming Toner (50ml), P250 Janelle, 20: “The first thing I noticed was the smell. I usually prefer my skincare products to be unscented, but this toner has a lovely smell and I loved it. I use cotton pads when I apply this, because the consistency is like water. I could say that it helps in controlling acne, especially during my period. It was easy to add to my routine since the ingredients don’t clash with my other products.”

Human Nature Hydrating Toner (200ml), P185 Aliah, 21: “I thought of switching to a hydrating toner since my skin is quite dry. Among all toners I’ve tried, this was the best and now it’s my holy grail! I always use this after I take a shower. I dab it on before applying my day or night cream. Since I started using this, my face has developed a dewy glow!”

Son & Park Beauty Water (60ml), P450 Michelle, 25: “You can use this as a prep product before the rest of your skincare routine. It dries quickly with no sticky or filmy residue, and it helps balance the skin’s pH (useful if you’re slathering on a high pH facial wash). However, I do highly recommend the Beauty Water as a toner, makeup prep, and face mist. It excels at these functions as it’s almost like a skincare essence, but in a more versatile form!.”

Moringa-O2 Herbal Toner, P100 Rench, 29: “I tried this toner because of its natural ingredients, like beneficial malunggay. It’s not harsh and it doesn’t burn the face. It’ll cleanse your skin nicely and re-balance it. It won’t dry out your face. Having all other expensive face products that I use, I’m thankful to this toner because it’s cheap and it does the job.”

V&M Naturals Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner, now on sale at P168 (limited time only) Reese, age unknown: “I’ve been seeing witch hazel being recommended a lot so I decided to use this. It’s my first time trying it, and so far, I like what I see. It’s mild and doesn’t aggravate my pimples. I have dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin, so thankfully, there were no flare-ups. It makes my skin moist, and the natural smell is a huge relief from the alcohol-scented toners I’ve had to use in the past.”

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water, P1,250 Krizza, 26: “THE most gentle acid. This product was given to me by a colleague after seeing the acne scars from a major breakout. I hesitated at first given that this is an acid and I have oily, combination skin. I was worried that it would strip my skin of its natural moisture, but it did the opposite! My skin isn’t irritated and is moisturized at the same time. I rarely give reviews, but this became one of my holy grails.”

Human Nature Balancing Toner (200ml), P185 Jewel, 17: “First toner I ever tried. I was shocked when I first used this, because of the amount of dirt it got from my face. I use this morning and night. Throughout the day, my face never gets oily, not even a bit, which used to be a big problem for me. But this really works and I no longer need to use several oil films ‘til I get home.”

COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner, P680 Anna, 24: “This ended the search for me. I have acne-prone, very oily, and sensitive skin. I have all kinds of acne—small bumps, the big ones, and whatnot. This product really helped me clear my skin. It has the right amount of chemicals to exfoliate my skin, but not to dry it up or burn it.”

Beauty Bakery Anti-Acne Mild Astringent, P189 Mary, 22: “My skin is oily and acne-prone. Honestly, this is the only thing that’s consistently improved my skin. I’m now on my 4th bottle and I swear on this product with my life! My skin has visibly improved and even my relatives noticed it. Now all that’s left are acne scars. Kudos to the team that made this!”

Zero Basics Face Toner (250ml), P220 Joma, 33: “It’s almost like it’s nothing at all on your skin, but it does actually do something to my complexion. My recent sleeping habits haven’t been the best for my skin, and my face would usually be wrecked, but somehow it’s still going great! I don’t know what sort of magic is in this, but my love for Zero Basics has just grown even more. It’s cheap, comes in a reusable and sustainable bottle, and it works.”

When I heard that Innisfree had a toner, I immediately bought it and I’ve never been happier with my purchase. It dried out my pimples and calmed my acne bumps in just two nights. In one week, my face has never felt this good.”

Esfolio Super Rich Coconut Facial Toner, P569 Princess, 28: “This toner is very rich in consistency, pretty much like a serum. I bought this a couple of months ago when my skin was always dry and peeling around the nose area. Applying this all over my face was like a vacation for my skin! It smells nice and the amount of toner you get in the bottle is so worth the price.”

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (200ml), P950 Jasmin, 25: “I super love it! I’m using a rather drying serum, so this toner really helps prep my skin and keep it super hydrated, so the serum doesn’t dry out my skin too much. It’s super mild. Right after using it, you’ll see that your skin is brighter. It doesn’t have a lot ingredients, which is also a plus for me. It actually helped clear out my skin. The tiny bumps and pimples on my forehead disappeared.”

ByPhasse Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Water for All Skin Types (500ml), now on sale at P323 (limited time only) Catsy, 27: “This product is perfect for acne-prone and sensitive skin. It’s gentle and it surely doesn’t sting even after going through rather harsh peeling caused by other products. Not only that, the bottled is enormous. So definite money-saver without sacrificing quality. It also does a great job in leaving the skin bright and dewy.”
