Whether we admit to wearing it or not, we live for foundation on less-than-perfect skin days. But fickle temps can turn a great base into a melting face, and that neither looks nor feels cute. Hot mess, anyone?
When you’re in the mood for #flawless but can’t bear the weight of full glam, look no further than a featherlight foundation. The six below are beloved by our customers—and their reviews say it all! Hailing from East and West, these gravity-defying bases should put your best face forward.
Maybelline Dream Velvet Matte, P499
Silvia, 22, Combination Skin: “I was amazed the first time I tried this because it did not feel like I applied anything on my face. It made me flawless and poreless, too. I like the application of [its] creamy gel-like texture. It helps control oil, too. This is definitely a great line and worth buying! Expect because you will not be disappointed.”
NYX Total Control Drop Foundation, P750
Rikatrina, 32, Oily Skin: “What I love about this product is that it’s really lightweight, probably because of its thin and watery consistency. You have to work on it really fast because it dries pretty quickly. It dries down to matte so baking is not necessary. To make it work better, simply set it with a powder.”
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! Liquid Foundation, P2,300
Sarah, 23, Oily Skin: “Super duper lightweight! Which is a good thing because it’s not every day that you need [a] high-coverage foundation. This is super recommended for everyday look[s]. Without primer though, this has the tendency to oil up a lot. But using a matte primer should do the trick. It’s a bit pricey but this should last up to its date of expiry. Swear, you don’t need a lot!”
Lioele Secret Pore Bright Gel Foundation, P550
Camille, 32, Sensitive Skin: “Finish and texture: It looks like a cream, feels like a gel when you spread it, but has a powdery matte finish unlike typical sticky cream foundations. It feels very, very light on the skin, even lighter than cushion foundation, which makes layering up okay if you want to build coverage. Buildable coverage: It was able to cover minor blemishes. I have dark ones that were lightened but still need the help of concealer (which is also the case with my other foundations). No smell: It’s my preference. I prefer having no smell to chemical smell. Scoop: It has a scoop which makes it easy to get the product and also makes it hygienic.”
Naturactor Powder Foundation, P620
Kay, 27, Normal Skin: “This powder foundation helps even out my complexion without looking cakey or made up. It’s very natural looking and is super easy to apply. It doesn’t feel like a foundation because the powder is so light. It feels like you’re just applying a light powder but you notice the coverage and you can build upon it. However, if you’re looking for full coverage, this is probably not the right product for you.”
Pony Effect Seamless Foundation, P1,400
Kristine, 20, Oily Skin: “It has [the] consistency of water. It is super lightweight, [has] a natural finish (might look more dewy if you have oily skin), and light-medium coverage, more towards medium. Not very buildable; you can see a little of my blemishes no matter how many layers you put on, but it covers most of them on the first layer. One pump is more than enough to do your whole face and to your neck, so it’ll last a while.”
