We asked our Brand Ambassador Laureen to describe every single detail of her #BeautyLife—from sunup, to sundown. Here’s what she told us.
I wake up at 10AM. The first thing I do is wash my face and brush my teeth before breakfast. You know how they say you should sing “Happy Birthday” when you wash your hands? They say you have to finish the whole “Happy Birthday” song to get them clean. So I also sing the whole song in my head when I wash my face. I have two facial washes: Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel and one from my derma, Dr. Aivee Aguilar-Teo (The Aivee Clinic).
For breakfast, I try to eat oatmeal with fruits, and I drink lots of water for my skin. I take a bath right after.
I wash my hair every day, even though they say it’s healthier to wash it only at night before you sleep and avoid wetting it in the morning for volume. Maybe if our country wasn’t as warm, I’d do that!
I use Sunsilk Smooth & Manageable Shampoo and Conditioner and Dove Original Soap in the bath, and Dove Original Lotion afterwards. Someone mentioned to me once that the best soap you can use for your skin is Dove because it really moisturizes your skin unlike any other soap. And it’s super true. My mom also gave me another Dove soap, but it’s packaged in gold, and I don’t know what it’s called. It’s super bango.
It’s the same process every day. I take good care of my skin, so I make sure I’m never in a hurry. My morning skincare and makeup routine takes 15 minutes, max. Actually, maybe just 10 minutes, since I really don’t put too much makeup on. I think it’s important to let your skin breathe.
I invest in lotion, moisturizer, and facial wash. I actually have two moisturizers! One is again from Dr. Aivee and the other is Pond’s White Beauty, which I like for the morning because it has SPF. It’s also great for when I go to the beach since it protects my face from the sun.
My go-to makeup look is the one I recently posted on my vlog: 3 Minute Beach Makeup.
I don’t wear heavy makeup every day because, like I said, I like to make my skin breathe. First, I use Pond’s BB Cream in Beige as a concealer under my eyes. For my eyebrows, I use Prestige Eyebrow Pencil and MAC Girl Boy Eyebrow Mascara. Then I contour, but just a little, using Benefit Hoola and a cheek tint from MAC—it’s from a lip and cheek palette. My fave everyday lipstick is a nude lippie by Happy Skin. I also like one by Bobbi Brown—it’s a chubby stick in a pink-nude shade. I really like pink-nude for my everyday look! On the other hand, red is my go-to for when I’m going out. I like Red Ronnie from the MAC Archie Collection. If I have events, I usually just play with my eyes or my lipstick.
I like my hair finger-dried with Bumble and Bumble Sea Salt Spray. It gives my hair that beach vibe. And I also like my hair straight. When I want it really, really straight, I iron it with a Vidal Sassoon Ceramic Hair Straightener.
For my nails, I like Zoya. And OPI. I have my nails done professionally because they do it better! My favorite Zoya is a pastel blue—like my nail polish during our latest BeautyMNL shoot! For OPI, I go for this dark red—is it plum?—and an OPI gray. My go-to colors are really dark red or gray.
My everyday scent is by Gendarme. I save Philosophy Pure Grace and Tom Ford Neroli Portofino for special occasions. Gendarme is a fresh cologne. It’s crisp, clean, not too strong, so it’s good for every day. For Philosophy, it’s the same, very light. Even for the Tom Ford, I like it because it’s clean. These three are my go-to scents because they smell [very simple], like cologne, but they last longer.
I have a dry skin type according to my derma, but when I started using moisturizer regularly, it got better. Now, I use Kleenex oil strips as a mid-day ritual.
I always make sure I still have lipstick on. I usually retouch my lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner twice a day, I would say. I’m also a hand cream kind of girl, so I reapply about three to five times a day.
When I’m at the beach, I like using beer as a replacement for tanning lotion. You really look nicer if you apply beer or oil. I always reapply SPF. Kailangan! My fave sunblock is Vaseline. I fight peeling and sunburn by using aloe vera after tanning.
I never leave the house without my eyebrow pencil, lip balm, and a tube of lipstick! I always change my lip balm nowadays but the one in my makeup kit at the moment is by Carmex.
HOME, SWEET HOME
I usually get home from work after dinner. I use Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil to remove my makeup and an eye makeup remover for my mascara. Then I wash my face. If I don’t have a shoot, I like using the facial wash from Dr. Aivee, since I don’t have too much makeup on. But if I have a shoot, with lots of makeup involved, I use the oil by Shu, followed by Pond’s facial wash.
I’ve slept in my makeup before—it happened to me twice, and I told myself it would never happen again. I forgot to remove my makeup before sleeping and got pimples the next day! I don’t really suffer from acne, but when I have surprise breakouts, I just go to my derma.
My evening skincare routine is mostly the same as my morning routine, except I remove my makeup! Also, my moisturizer in the morning is Pond’s White Beauty, but at night I like to use the moisturizer from Dr. Aivee—it’s more of a night cream. They’re telling me to use serum already, but I don’t. Hehe.
I always take a quick shower, except if I want to pamper myself. That’s when I take a really long bubble bath—probably 30 to 40 minutes. I like reading a book when I’m in the bath. I also love getting massages! And I always request for peppermint oil.
Before bed, I light a candle, read a book, and drink my tea. My candle at the moment is Jo Malone Lime Basil. Super bango. My favorite tea is green tea. Right now, I’m reading The Girl on the Train and How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are. Next on my list for good laughs are Crazy Rich Asians and China Rich Girlfriend. I sleep when my hair’s 80 percent dry.
My foolproof trick for preventing eyebags and puffy face: sleep. Or I just use YSL’s Touch Éclat to hide dark circles under my eyes. My ideal beauty sleep is six to eight hours. If I don’t get that, I just drink more fruit juices in the morning, rather than putting on more products. The number one juice to drink if you haven’t had enough sleep and if you need to look super fresh is orange-apple-carrot. Yum!
