We asked host Karen Pamintuan to describe every single detail of her #BeautyLife—from sunup, to sundown. Here’s what the BeautyMNL guru told us.


I wake up around 7:00AM every day. As soon as I wake up, I drink alkaline water, which I love making. It’s water with slices of lemon and cucumber in it. I prepare a jug of this water each night and drink it all throughout the next day. It’s wonderful for your skin since it removes toxins, and it also helps regulate your digestion—plus, it’s delicious.
I also try to have a healthy, yummy breakfast while I go through my emails. Sometimes I’ll mix strawberries with almond milk and chia seeds. But most of the time, I have a bowl of Greek yogurt with lots of raw honey drizzled over it for sweetness.
I wash my face after breakfast. I usually wash my face with Kiehl’s, but recently, I’ve also been using L’Oréal Revitalift Foam Wash. I just apply a small dollop; I don’t use a lot of product when cleansing my face. Then I brush my teeth and trot off to the gym.
I usually go to the gym around 8:00AM, and I take a shower after I work out. As much as possible, I try not to wash my hair every single day unless I get super sweaty. I’m an equestrian, and if I’m at the farm riding my horses for the day, I definitely have to wash my hair!
I like to wash my hair every other day because constant shampooing dries it out. I also like to change around my shampoos. I love the ones by OGX—the Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil and Argan Oil of Morocco lines. Both the shampoos and conditioners are my favorites. Right now, I’m using TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shampoo. Then I make sure to apply a treatment once a week to keep my hair soft and healthy. I use the Moisture Egg Hair Pack by Korean brand Skinfood.
I also love trying out different body washes and soaps for the different scents they leave on my skin—especially the moisture-packed ones. At the moment, I’m using The Body Shop Olive Shower Gel, which is super hydrating.

After showering, I apply lotion or body cream. But lately, instead of lotion, I’ve been using the Aloe Vera Juice by Aloe Derma. It’s liquid-y, not creamy, but it locks in moisture just the same and feels really nice on my skin the whole day!
I usually just air-dry my hair, using my fingers to tousle it for texture. If I’m in a rush and I need it to dry faster, I spray on My Amazing Blowdry Secret Quick Dry Shake ‘n Spray—this really, really speeds up the drying process! I also like applying serums on my hair depending on how straight or how wavy I want it to be that day.


I wear makeup every day, but my go-to look is pretty basic: primer, concealer, mascara, cream foundation, brows, and a little lip color.
I love using My Prime Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer as a base, and then Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation on top of that. My shade is Rose Beige. I love this cream foundation so much—I actually just ran out because I use it so often! To color-correct my under-eye circles, I use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger. To fill in my brows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Caramel—in general, I think Anastasia Beverly Hills has the best brow stuff. And then for my everyday lip, I love the Megaslicks Balm Stain in Pinky Promise by Wet n’ Wild. It’s very subtle.
I am terrible at doing my own hair. So the hair straightener is my go-to if I don’t have time to get my hair professionally blow-dried. My favorite hairstyle is wavy, bouncy locks, something with volume, or just a nice ponytail. Ponytails and messy buns are definitely my go-tos if I have no time. If I have to do my own hair, I apply serum and wax to help tame the frizz or hold the waves. And then I just pray to God it will turn out okay and stay that way!
I really like nail polish, too. My favorite nail colors are nudes. I love Ruby Wing! It’s such a fun product line because you apply the polishes like any other, plain and simple, but when you go out in the sun, the color changes and sparkles! It also helps that Ruby Wing polishes are vegan, non-toxic, and smell great. If ever I both my mani-pedis, I just head to St. Nails to have my nails done professionally.
I love perfume! My mom gives me a new one each year, and these turn into my absolute faves. She just seems to get me! I love fresh scents; sometimes floral, sometimes citrusy depending on my mood.


I’ve become pretty religious about reapplying sunblock every few hours. Perfume, too. Those are probably the two things that I am obsessive about keeping in stock.
I’m not really a hand cream kind of girl. I ride horses, I just started playing golf, and I go to the gym, so it would just go to waste. Having said that, my hands probably do need hand cream! I have some, but I usually don’t apply it until I badly need it. I’ll be shaking someone’s hand when I realize they’re probably wondering what the heck I’ve been doing to have these kinds of hands. Oops!
After lunch, I always reapply my lipstick, as well as my concealer and eyeliner. I’m really particular about having the latter two perfectly applied at all times! And then I always try to have a hot cup of lemon water to help ease digestion. It feels really good in my tummy.

Whenever I’m traveling, I’m really into all-in-one products or multi-tasking makeup since they make application and retouching so much simpler.
I really like the Too Faced No Makeup Makeup Palette (which has everything inside for a basic day look), Revlon Absolute Radiance Two-Way Powder Foundation (which can be used dry as a light face powder and damp as a foundation), Tarte Cheek Stain in Fearless (which is really long-lasting), and Majolica Majorca Brow & Lash Colorist (which is a dual-purpose mascara). Every day, whether I’m in Manila or abroad, I also use Softlips Lip Protectant & Sun Screen. It smells like watermelon and makes my lips so smooth!


If I’m going to an event, I work on my eyes. I love the natural brown smoky look. I like the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Rich Gold for this. I line my eyes with Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner or Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and coat Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara over my lashes. Then, to finish the look, I swipe on Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Stick in Coral Glow (which is this really easy-to-use blush stick) and a stronger lip color. It really depends on my mood, but my ultimate go-to lipstick for evening is MAC Ruby Woo.
If I’m coming from a LISTED taping, I get back home usually around 6:00 or 7:00PM. If I’m hosting an event, that stretches to any time between 9:00PM to 12:00AM. And if I’m working on one of my wedding coordination gigs…who knows! I’m probably not even home yet by midnight!
The first thing I do when I get home is kick off my shoes and remove my makeup. My cardinal rule is never, ever sleep with your makeup still on. I am really OC about this. I’ve definitely made this mistake before, and both my skin and my pillow case have experienced the pain the next day. Let’s just say that mascara is very difficult to remove from bed covers. Also, I sleep next to my dog, Rick Ross, who has his own natural mascara (doggy tear stains!), so we look like twins. LOL!
After a particularly long day, I find that bubble baths are wonderful! I pour in bath salts, too, just soaking in all their goodness. I like face masks, but the truth is, I really don’t get much time to use them—I always forget! What I really love to do to pamper myself is get a massage, using different aromatic oils.
Then I brush my teeth, wash my face, and apply just a little bit of skincare. The idea is to simply keep my combination skin clean. If it’s particularly oily, I use toner. If it’s particularly dry, I’m very generous with moisturizer. One of my favorite products to use, regardless of my skin issue, is the Rosehip Oil by Eve Hansen. Then I apply my aloe vera juice all over my body to hydrate my skin and hop straight into bed!
My mom yells at me if I sleep with wet hair, but the truth is, I am usually really lazy after a tiring day of being on the job and I do end up nodding off with damp locks. I know I shouldn’t, especially with the AC on. But when I’m being particularly responsible, I scrunch in a leave-in conditioner while my hair is drying. It really makes my hair look awesome the next day.
Since I work in television, I really have to preserve my skin. I drink lots and lots of my lemon-cucumber water, and I even place slices of cucumber over my eyes to de-puff them. I don’t go out at night to party; nor do I drink alcohol, really. If I’m very fatigued or have been crying—I’m a sucker for movies about dogs or horses, and this is me after the credits roll—I ice the under-eye area and apply eye cream. The newest eye care product I’ve added to my collection is the Weightless Eye Cream by My Prime, the same brand that makes my primer. I have their whole skincare range, actually!

Now, I know I shouldn’t snack before bed, but I sometimes give in. I do try to keep it healthy by just munching on cucumbers. (I really, really love cucumbers, as you’ve probably noticed.)
My idea of a really solid beauty sleep is 7 to 8 hours. But if there’s one thing I’m guilty of, it’s not sleeping enough! Luckily, I travel a lot, so I actually welcome jetlag, since it’s the only thing that can force me to get some shuteye at an appropriate hour and sleep in! Otherwise, I get up really early in the morning and stay up really late in the evenings because I’m always working, working, working, and thinking of so many things. That’s why my New Year’s resolution for 2016 is so simple: sleep.
