I’ve always had my roots in the heart of Manila—but every now and again, even a city girl needs to get away. Last August, I was lucky enough to jet off with Cetaphil to Bali, the Island of the Gods, for a little soul-searching.
For this beauty-themed escape, Cetaphil whisked me away to Karma Kandara, a 5-star resort in the southern reaches of Bali that overlooks the endless blue of the Pacific. I shared a villa with Filipina YouTubers Anne Clutz and Michelle Dy, and together, we experienced our very own version of Eat, Pray, Love.
The Cetaphil Experience was an opportunity to connect with nature, meet other beauty girls, and most importantly, get in touch with ourselves. We were there for one thing: to capture skin confidence. Watch what happened over a weekend of skincare lessons, wellness workshops, and overall good vibes!
5 STEPS TO SKIN CONFIDENCE
So, what is the secret to being confident in your own skin? After four days of skin-sational workshops (and one glow-getting yoga session), I gleaned 5 true-life tips.
1. WASH YOUR FACE
So obvious, but so apt. Washing your face will not only make you feel good in an instant, it will also keep your skin clean, smooth, and youthful. Whatever you do, never, ever skip cleanser—the dirt-eliminating benefits are just not worth the risk.
2. HYDRATE YOUR BODY
You know it, your momma knows it, her momma knows it. Proper hydration is as important to good skin as eating clean and getting enough beauty sleep. Drink eight glasses of water a day, munch on cucumbers for merienda, and by all means, quench your skin-thirst. Full-body moisturizing will help prevent wrinkles, boost baby-softness, and give you a certain glow.
3. EXERCISE FOR THE JOY OF IT
When you’re burned out or even just a little blue, it shows on your skin—and nothing get those happy hormones back as quickly as exercise! No, you don’t have to run a marathon (unless you want to). Find a workout you enjoy, like outdoor yoga, for instance, or taking an early-morning bike ride. When you like the kind of exercise you’re doing, you’ll stick to it and eventually reap the benefits on your face and body. (But please, If you’re going outdoors, don’t forget sunscreen.)
4. REWARD YOURSELF WITH SKINCARE
Treat your skincare routine as an indulgence instead of a chore. That way, it won’t feel like a boring ol’ obligation, but always a treat! For instance, in Bali, Cetaphil taught us how to make a face mask using their cult-fave cleanser—and I just found it so therapeutic. Simply mix the cleanser with equal parts oatmeal and sugar, then massage all over your face. It’s just like getting a facial!
5. DARE TO BARE
Having a good skin day? Remember this moment with a #NoMakeup selfie! The more you appreciate the woman sans face paint, the stronger your #SkinConfidence will be. We know this last bit is a little cliché, but that doesn’t make it any less true: it all comes from within.
