By now, you all know that I’m a very lazy, very low-maintenance girl when it comes to everyday beauty. And this certainly extends beyond makeup! Even when it comes to skincare, I’m guilty of skipping a step (or two) on some days.

So when a complete and serious-looking regimen kit from Céleteque Dermoscience arrived in the mail, I wasn’t sure where to start! I actually had to read the literature that (luckily!) came with the package.
My Céleteque loot was comprised of products tailor-fit to my combination skin. To explain, my skin is dry and flaky in some areas, so I need a good moisturizer. While I don’t get really bad breakouts, I have large, clogged pores and I do suffer from the occasional zit—so oil is an issue, too. Finally, my skin tone has become quite uneven due to my bad habit of going SPF-free at the beach. Sorry, skin.
After reading up on the products in my kit, I figured I would just try it for a week and see what happens! Céleteque recommends a minimum 3-step routine to see results. There are additional steps, too, depending on the issues of your skin.

This is exactly what was in my kit:

STEP 1: DOUBLE-CLEANSE.

As a creature of habit, I was immediately attracted to the convenience of the Make-Up Remover Cleansing Facial Wipes. I used one wipe each time to remove most of my makeup. That was the first part of my double-cleansing routine.
The second part involved thoroughly cleansing my naked skin. For this, I alternated the use of the Exfoliating Facial Wash and the Acne Cleansing Gel.
I looked forward to the days that I would use the Exfoliating Face Wash because it has microbeads in it and I love products with microbeads. It might just be my imagination, but I really did feel my dead skin gently flaking away with each wash?
For the days in between, I would use the Acne Cleansing Gel, which contains Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid helps treat pimples and unclog pores with dried-up oil stuck inside them. The gel formula is easily to slather all over your face, and it doesn’t dry out your skin at all.

STEP 2: TONE.

While it would be so easy for me to call it a day after cleansing (told you, #lazygirl), Céleteque insists on the use of a toner. I found out that this is especially important to deal with my uneven skin tone and large, clogged pores. The Oil Control Toner battles this by reconditioning the skin with Aloe Vera and Chamomile extracts. Aloe is a natural astringent that helps remove excess oil and dirt, and chamomile has soothing properties that tame redness.

I actually liked this toner a lot. It didn’t have a strong alcohol scent, and when I was done applying it, and it didn’t leave that uncomfortably tight, super-dry feeling I have experienced from other toners.

STEP 3: MOISTURIZE.

Confession: moisturizing is a step that I would usually skip (I know, another bad habit). But when I was testing this Céleteque regimen, my skin was exceptionally dry, so I actually wanted to put something all over my face. Surprise, surprise—of all the products in this set, the Facial Moisturizer turned out to be my favorite! I used it on a daily basis, even when it was humid, and it didn’t give me that sticky, greasy feeling that makes me hate moisturizing in general. This product is a gel that’s water-based and oil-free and very refreshing on the skin.

STEP 4: TREAT.

I dotted the Acne Solutions Spot Corrector Gel over one pimple on my cheek as needed. In addition to Salicylic Acid, this targeted treatment contains the well-known acne-fighting ingredients Witch Hazel and Tea Tree Oil. A small dot goes a long way! It stings a tiny bit upon application, but that sensation goes away quickly. Don’t expect your pimples to disappear overnight (wishful thinking!), but this gel did manage to shrink my zits and lessen the redness over the course of three days.

THE VERDICT

I thought my Céleteque regimen would leave me completely exhausted, but it turned out to be a piece of cake! After a while, I just got used to all the steps and the whole routine turned into muscle memory.
Did I end the week with super-duper-perfect, Photoshop-finish skin? No, but was there was a big improvement, and that’s all anyone should expect from skincare, really. The most noticeable differences in my skin were as follows:

  • Minimized pores on my cheeks (YAY!)
  • Reduced dryness around my nose (that dryness used to be severe, and now it’s barely there)
  • Lessened pigment of an acne mark

In short, I could definitely make this routine a long-term thing. Baby-soft skin, here I come!
