The hype around Kylie Jenner’s eponymous lipstick line is infectious, and it has definitely penetrated the BeautyMNL office. We thirst for Kylie Lip Kits (which is why we sell them now, here). Flat-matte, deliciously opaque, and totally color-trendy—what more could you want from an It-girl lippie?
The problem with the Kylie Lip Kits is that they are always sold out. To fight the FOMO, you have three options: invest your life savings in a kit on eBay, wait for an official website restock (it’ll feel like a century), or search for dupes. Case in point: only three girls at the office have successfully gotten their hands on their own Kylie Lip Kits. And even then, we were only able to scrounge up less than half of the 12 matte shades: Dolce K, Candy K, Koko K, Mary Jo K, and Exposed.

After digging around in the BeautyMNL sample closet, we found look-alikes for all 5 of these colors, plus 2 more: True Brown K and Posie K. Scroll down for the side-by-side comparisons—they had us seeing double!

DOLCE K AND HONEY BUNNY

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Nicky wears KLK Dolce K (left) and Pink Sugar Lip & Cheek Tint in Honey Bunny (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Dolce K is a tawny brown with a touch of gray that keeps it cool. Honey Bunny is a near-perfect replica, but it has more beige tones in it than taupe.

Shop Pink Sugar Honey Bunny here.

CANDY K AND EURO TRASH

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Jyle in KLK Candy K (left) and NYX Matte Lipstick in Euro Trash (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Fun fact: Candy K is Kylie’s favorite color from the collection. It’s a perfect blend of pale pink and beige with a gray undertone (notice a theme?). Euro Trash twins with Candy K, for sure. The only difference is that this NYX formula has a softer, more velvety finish, while Kylie’s is a true flat matte.

Shop NYX Euro Trash here.

KOKO K AND HOT MESS

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Joanna in Koko K (left) and Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in Hot Mess (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Apart from the packaging, it is difficult to tell Koko K and Hot Mess apart. They’re both cool-toned baby pinks. If anything, Hot Mess has a touch less gray in it.

Shop Pink Sugar Hot Mess here.

MARY JO K AND MAT11

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Dani in Mary Jo K (left) and Maybelline Vivid Matte in MAT11 (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Mary Jo K is a timeless red with blue undertones running through it. The same goes for MAT11—it’s just a little more satiny than the über-matte Mary Jo.

Shop Maybelline MAT 11 here.

EXPOSED AND LONDON

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Mara in Exposed (left) and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Exposed is a medium nude that sings against fair complexions and pops if you’ve got a tan. For a pocket-friendly alternative, London’s the kind of brown-based nude that won’t wash you out.

Shop NYX Exposed here.

As mentioned earlier, we own neither True Brown K nor Posie K (so sad!). But we couldn’t bear to leave them off this list because they’re just so pretty. Their look-alikes should tide you over until you can get your hands on the real thing!

TRUE BROWN K AND SAMANTHA

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Kylie in KLK True Brown K (left) vs. Kim in DETAIL Matte In Detail Liquid Lipstick in Samantha (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Samantha is an intense ’90s-inspired brown with a modern edge. It is deeper than True Brown K, but both have a brick-toned look to them that is totally 2016.

Shop DETAIL Samantha here.

POSIE K AND MAUVE

THE LOOK FOR LESS: Kylie in KLK Posie K (left) vs. Sabby in City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Mauve (right).

COLOR COMPARISON: Depending on your skin tone, Mauve will show up anywhere between a romantic rose or a neutral mauve à la Posie K. So fresh!
