It’s no secret that we expect our products to work overtime. But often, we manage to overlook the multi-tasking potential of one particular makeup staple: concealer. Yes, we already use the stuff to hide surprise pimples and erase the signs of a broken heart (eyebags, anyone?). Still, if you want to be really smart about it, there at least 6 other ways to get the most out of your concealer. Read on!
1. ENHANCE YOUR MAKEUP COLORS
Because it comes in flesh tones, concealer can be used as a base to make your lipsticks and eyeshadows pop. Dab a little over your lips, lids, or both to neutralize your skin tone, then apply your color on top. The effect will be much more vibrant.
2. PRIME YOUR LIPS & LIDS
Besides intensifying color, concealer also doubles as a primer for the same areas of your face. A nice, semi-dense formula can help prevent slipping and sliding throughout the day. A great tip in case you find yourself running low on lip and lid primer!
3. CLEAN UP YOUR LIPSTICK
The struggle of applying perfectly contoured lipstick is all too real. When you make a mistake, simply trace concealer over smears the smear and blend gently to clean it up.
4. SALVAGE A CROOKED CAT EYE
Cat-eye looking crooked? Don’t sweat it. You can easily correct the problem without wiping off your handiwork. Just dip a thin liner brush into a cream concealer and wipe away mistakes for that #OnFleek flick.
5. AMP UP YOUR ARCHES
This one came us a surprise to us, but it actually works! To boost your brows, first fill in sparse patches with concealer. Wait a minute or two for the product to set, then apply brow powder on top. This will produce to a stronger, darker look that just won’t melt. Oh, and if you outline your brows with concealer, your arch will look sharper and neater!
6. CONTOUR YOUR FACE
This is especially relevant for those of you who are in possession of shades that are either too light or too dark for your skin. If you haven’t the cash for a complete contour kit, those concealers can sub in a pinch. Start off with a concealer that is two shades darker than your skin, contouring underneath your cheekbones, on the sides of your nose, and beneath your jawline. Then, apply a concealer that is two shades lighter, highlighting along the tops of your cheekbones, down the center of your nose, and just above your jawline. Don’t forget to blend!
