When you’ve got oily skin, your makeup can and will quit on you. One minute it’s there, the next minute it’s gone, and all you’re left with is the sad realization that forever doesn’t exist. #Hugot2018
But what if we told you there is a way to keep your makeup in place? Yes, ladies, miracles can happen. Below, our 5-step oil-proofing technique, which you should try it this week!
Nope, that’s not a typo—we really did mean start. Using setting spray before primer is actually an oily-girl hack used by MUAs and beauty bloggers worldwide.
Hold the spray 12 inches from your face, then mist generously until you have an even layer. Allow it to dry. This will give you a grease-free base and help make the rest of your makeup products adhere better.

No big secret here! Everyone knows that to make your makeup last, primer is a must. This base product spackles over large pores, creates a barrier for shine, and locks your makeup to your skin.
A little primer goes a long way, so just dab a small amount over your face, focusing on your T-zone. If you’re really, really oily, opt for a mattifying formula.

Setting powder does exactly what its name suggests: it sets your makeup in place. It also absorbs excess oil and keeps your makeup from moving, so your look stays fresh to death.
Using a fluffy brush, dust a thin veil of powder over your skin, again concentrating on your T-zone. Don’t overdo it, though, since too much powder will lead to creasing and the dreaded cake-face.

As the finishing touch, spritz on a very generous layer of setting spray. This acts as the final seal (the “laminate,” if you will) so your makeup doesn’t melt or move. Mist-mist-mist, let your face air-dry, and get ready to slay.

Finally, always keep oil blotting sheets in your purse. These life-savers are always handy for when you start to grease up—if you do at all!

After this kind of insurance, your oily skin won’t stand a chance.
