There are many things we love about eating chicken. It’s low in calories, jam-packed with protein, and not to mention, super versatile. So much so, there are as many ways to enjoy chicken as there are, well, chicken!

When it comes to poultry, we have no complaints. Of course, like anything else, we can’t eat it each and every night. Chances are, you will probably want another protein source on your plate. So, if you’re sick of the same old meal, why not opt for pork?

Pork, although it’s usually synonymous with oily bacon strips and buttery-soft pork belly, is not as unhealthy as many people imagine. Sure, bacon and pork belly is chockfull of saturated fats and certainly not as lean as chicken. Essentially, however, it’s possible to eat pork without suffering from serious heart-plugging effects.

Pork loin, tenderloin, and pork chops are full of protein, making it filling, satisfying, and dare we say, nutritious. Aside from jazzing up your diet and fulfilling your daily protein intake, pork is a naturally low-sodium source of nine key nutrients—namely, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin, selenium, thiamin, vitamin B6, and zinc. What’s more, pork helps the body produce red blood cells, and thanks to its iron content, energy.

When you find yourself in the supermarket, chuck the pork in your cart without fear. We put a list of 5 pork recipes that are as tasty as they are nutritious. Move over, chicken!
