Coffee lovers, stow your pitchforks: we’re not about to lay you off caffeine. We also consume mug after steaming mug of the energizing concoction. Sometimes—okay, most of the time—way more than is healthy.

Sure, a cup of coffee or two can increase alertness and help you through your workday. But too much of the stuff can have negative side effects, like stomach upset and a bad case of the jitters. (What’s that they say about too much of good thing?) Luckily, there are plenty of coffee alternatives that can replace your regular joe. From a green matcha to a golden milk spiked with turmeric and fragrant spices, here are 3 new ways to jump-start the morning.

GOLDEN MILK

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • Sweetener of choice

PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: In a small saucepan, add in all the ingredients.
STEP 2: Whisk to combine over medium heat.
STEP 3: Add sweetener to taste.
STEP 3: Pour into a mug. Serve immediately.

GINGERBREAD LATTE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • Sweetener of choice

PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: In a small saucepan, add in all the ingredients except tea bag.
STEP 2: Whisk to combine over medium heat.
STEP 3: Pour into a mug. Add tea bag and steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
STEP 4: Remove tea bag. Serve immediately.

GREEN MATCHA

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/4 tsp. matcha powder
  • 1 tbsp. hot water
  • 1 cup almond milk

PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: Add matcha powder into serving mug along with hot water.
STEP 2: Whisk until dissolved.
STEP 3: Once the matcha is fully dissolved, heat almond milk in a saucepan.
STEP 4: Pour milk into serving mug. Serve immediately.
