I am sure by now that you’ve at least heard of Pink Sugar, the local label that made a splash in 2015. This homegrown beauty brand is famous for their matte lipsticks, neon-bright lip and cheek tints, and heavy-coverage concealer. But have you checked out their blush collection? You must. It is awesome.
Aside from being affordable, the Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color Blush comes in beautiful colors that are super flattering on all skin tones. And Filipinas will love this part: these blushes stay on even in our blasted hot weather!
I’ve been using these blushes for months now, ever since they came out. I am not embarrassed to admit that I’ve passed over high-end blushes in favor of my Pink Sugar faves. They’re that good. There are seven shades available, but if you’re clueless about which ones to try out first, allow me to help you narrow down your choices to three. These are the absolute must-have shades in my book!

1. NEUTRAL BRONZE: South Beach
South Beach is the contour-slash-bronzer shade of my dreams. It’s a neutral light tan that’s very subtle on the skin but still gives me the definition I need. When concentrated, it can be used to contour the cheeks, jawline, and forehead. When diffused, it can be used as a light wash of bronzer to cop that sun-kissed look. South Beach looks deceptively light in the pan, but its true colors (get it?) come out when applied on skin. I find it so soft and natural—wouldn’t you agree?

2. SHIMMERY PINK: Paris Lights
Paris Lights is a peachy pink with gold shimmer. It reminds me of a very famous designer blush that is both timeless and universally flattering. Can you guess? (Hint, hint!) Pink Sugar’s version is equally beautiful on all skin tones and imparts a dainty glow on the cheeks. I find it really versatile—meaning, it can be worn with a wide variety of makeup looks, from demure to daring.

3. WARM PEACH: Miss Independent
Miss Independent is my favorite out of these three! If you could only own one Pink Sugar blush, this is it! It’s a matte toasty peach that works so well for Filipina skin tones. If I actually blushed, this would be the color. I sometimes use Miss Independent to contour when I don’t have time—I just apply it a bit further towards the sides of my face instead of right on the apples of the cheeks. Also, the staying power of this blush is particularly impressive. I’ve worn it for more than five hours with barely any fading!

So there you go, guys: my top three blush colors for beginners! Have you tried any of these yet? Which ones are your personal must-haves? Let me know in the comments.
