The best beauty oils are pure, simple, and undiluted—and we’d say that argan oil is the grand dame of them all. Commonly referred to as “liquid gold”, this hard-working oil has been used in Morocco for centuries for its myriad beauty benefits. Today, modern folks slather it on from scalp to sole to make themselves look prettier—and you can, too. Below, we list 10 ways to work this multi-tasking wonder into your daily routine.
1. FACE MOISTURIZER
Argan oil is lightweight but can nourish even the driest Sahara desert of skin. Use only a few drops day and night to get hydrated.
2. BODY OIL
Argan oil can easily replace your regular lotion. Apply it to wet skin, allow it to sink in, then towel off. Your pelt will feel soft, supple and not at all sticky.
3. LIP SCRUB
Combine equal parts argan oil and sugar to create a paste. Gently massage it into your lips using gentle circular motions. When you rinse off the scrub, you’ll find a pair of kissable lips that are no longer chapped.
Mix a drop of argan oil into your foundation or tinted moisturizer to give yourself a luminous glow. Believe it or not, the oil will actually help neutralize the excess sebum on your T-zone instead of amping up grease.
5. HAIR SERUM
Suffering from fly-aways? Warm up some argan oil between your palms and run it through your hair with your fingers. This should tame your frizz and create shine.
6. DEEP-CONDITIONING HAIR MASK
If your hair is in need of TLC, massage a generous amount of argan oil into your tresses and leave it on as you sleep. Come morning, you’ll have softer, glossier locks flowing over your pillowcase. A hair mask infused with argan oil will work just as well (you’ll just have to wash it out).
7. SHAVE TREATMENT
Say goodbye to pesky ingrown hairs, sore skin, and the overly dry feeling that follows shaving. You can use argan oil pre- or post-shave for bump-free skin that won’t succumb to razor burn.
8. STRETCH MARK TREATMENT
Argan oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamin E, which can prevent stretch marks, scars, and even cellulite from forming. Apply a generous amount on your belly, thighs, and any other affected areas. Then simply rub-a-dub-dub until the oil has absorbed completely.
9. HAND & FOOT SOFTENER
Massage argan oil into your cuticles to soften, moisturize, and encourage nail growth. Work a good amount into your soles and between your toes to soothe dryness and cracking. If you’re really looking for a deep moisturizing treatment, slip your feet into socks overnight so they can marinate in the oil.
10. AFTER-SUN TREATMENT
Sunburns can happen to even the most conscientious SPF-wearers. If you were subjected to the sun’s scorching rays, argan oil can soothe the sting and speed up the healing process.
